I would break a stick about almost every show and practice, costing about 8 bucks every time I play. One pair has lasted about 2 years, with just changing the cover and a few tips. They save you alot of money, you get used to the feel of them and won't go back to wood. I recommend 2 sets for live players, tips can eventually crack or come loose and fly off over time and I have broken one stick in half doing very hard rim shots. I also ruined the threads on one not noticing the tip came off right away playing live, so if the tips breaks live flip the stick to the butt end and finish the song with it or grab another stick while playing. No tip on it will also kill your heads. I also check tips to make sure they are not coming un-tightened between breaks to be safe, which doesn't happen often at all unless its a 3 hour jam

I bought these sticks because I'm a huge Metallica fan, also hoping they would be the last pair of sticks I had to buy as a casual drummer. However, I was very disapointed in them. Personally I think they are a better decoration than drumstick. These sticks are HEAVY, which is to be expected because they're made of metal, but it drastically limits playability. Recently the sticks broke also... not that I'm too dissapointed because the drummer of my band also broke his pair. I also noticed that the weight of the sticks takes away from the true sound of the drums, like they absorb sound. Wooden sticks lift much faster letting the true tone of the drums out. I just don't see them being worth the 30 dollars. Too heavy, too slow, too weak for the cash.

LOUD and CLEAR

By Angusfanno.1

Comments about Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks:

I bought these the other day and tried them out. These are the best sticks I have ever used! The are loud and the sound they produce is clearer than any thing I have used. I would recommend these sticks even if you are not a fan of Metallica. The price is a little steep but it's really an investment into your playing.

Comments about Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks:

i own 2 pair of these sticks and they are the best on the market. the weight is distributed very nice for harder, faster playing. the tips sound great on all cymbals as well. i would recommend ordering some grip tape, extra covers and a new set of tips while ordering the stick. the covers and tips are cheap and easy to replace.

Sticks Last Forever - Cymbals & Heads Don't!

By ArkansasDrummer

from Arkansas

Comments about Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks:

Yes, these Sticks will Last Forever! Replace the plastic parts about once a year for standard practicing and gigging.BUT over time they cut through Cymbals & Heads like they were butter!!! Sticks are too long and heavy, so you loose bounce and too much vibration causes sore hands!I loved the Ahead Sticks at first! Finally a stick that lasts for years with no breaing or splitering. After a month Evans and Remo Heads were gone! Only Aquarian Performance II Heads will take the beating! After a year started cutting through Zildjian Cymbals, and denting Sabians.I've played for 25 years on High School Drumlines, All-Region Honor Band, my College Drumline, and in Rock/Metal/Punk/Grunge Bands. I have proper technique, and I'm not a heavy hitter.Sticks that last forever seemed great, but not worth it when they start ruining more expensive Cymbals and Heads!I recommend trying: ProMark White Oak, or Aquarian X-10 Graphite!!!!

Comments about Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks:

I've had these drumsticks for about almost a year and it doesn't look like it's gonna break anytime soon. I recomend it to any hard hitter who is sick of cheap broken sticks.

        Ahead Sticks

        By ZecsMarquis

        from Frankfort, IN

Comments about Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks:

These are great for heavy drumming and take a long time to wear down and then you can just replace the taper! They are just a little bit heavy, making real fast drumming around the kit difficult.
