Comments about Alvarez FC1 Folk Arched Acoustic Guitar Hardshell Case:

I purchased the Godin 5th Avenue acoustic archtop from MF. I also purchased the Silver Creek Vintage Archtop Dreadnought case (which was recommended by MF customer service and was quite nice for the money). However, the Godin did not fit in it as the case was too small at the lower bout. I returned the case, and after reading all the specs on all the hardshell cases on the MF site, I ordered the Alvarez FC1 Folk Archtop case because the specs stated the lower bout of the case was 16" which would have been exactly right for the 5th Avenue. Again, the case was way too small at the lower bout, probably about 15" at best. Since then I found that Godin makes two cases which should hold the 5th Avenue. They didn't show up in my "Case Finder" search because they're not considered a hard shell case.

On the positive side The FC1 seemed like an OK, inexpensive case (not as nice as the Silver Creek) and MF Customer Service was, as always, very good and made returning both cases quite easy. So, bottom line, be aware that case specs (which I assume come from the manufacturer) are not always as advertised.

Comments about Alvarez FC1 Folk Arched Acoustic Guitar Hardshell Case:

I bought this for my Gibson Acoustic L1-00 Blues King which came in a ridiculous gig bag. I wanted better protection, something that looked classy and stood out from the rest (normal Black). My Gibson Acoustic fits perfectly in this size case.

I liked everything about this case except two things! The flimsy handle and the cheap latches! There like pot metal nothing strong, I went with the gig case by Alvarez.

Comments about Alvarez FC1 Folk Arched Acoustic Guitar Hardshell Case:

I needed a new case for my 1979 Alvarez 5014, and thought going with factory equipment would be the best bet.
I contacted Alvarez, who said they didn't have a record of the dimensions of my instrument; when I gave them the measurements they said this should work, but "might be a little tight". Try 2 inches "tight" on the lower bouts.
I called MF to arrange for a return, and the agent was very helpful, including asking if he could check for another case for me. Gave him the measurements, and he set up a direct swap for a Silver Creek case that he said would work. I sent the Alvarez case back, they sent the Silver Creek faster than I could believe and, while it is indeed a bit tight, I can actually get my guitar inside it.
If you have a current Alvarez folk model, this should prove a fine case; if yours is older, measure it & call (MF, not Alvarez) before ordering.

        Great case

Comments about Alvarez FC1 Folk Arched Acoustic Guitar Hardshell Case:

The Fc-1 is a great case for a few reasons. The case offers a lock to keep anything inside the case safe. All the latches and hardware are durable. The exterior is very vintage and cool looking, while the plush interior is both nice and good for the guitar. The case has a nice weight and balance. Most importantly of all it is sturdy and i trust my guitar in it 100% percent.
