This Analysis Plus' Black Oval instrument cable has silent 1/4" plugs (1 straight, 1 angled) that enable you to switch instruments without running to the amplifier and turning down the volume. The silent plug is a special version 2-pole plug (mono plug) with an integrated switch which automatically mutes (shorts) a guitar cable to avoid annoying pops and squeals when hot swapping guitars. The unique design, with its spring-loaded ground sleeve, creates a more reliable switching plug than others on the market, with a 1/2-inch profile that fits your guitar.
What Analysis Plus considers to be its best flex-and-feel instrument cables, the Black Oval series is an ROHS compliant, completely green cable that sounds as good as it feels. The cable has 20 gauge conductors, a conductive sheath to eliminate microphonics, and an oval center conductor with a hollow oval return.
The cable, connectors, packaging, and it's design are all done in the USA.

I purchased this cable because it had a clever type of plug that's supposed to prevent the sound of pops and clicks as you connect the guitar to the amplifier or PA.
I'm sorry to say that, despite the expense and the complex plug design, it does not work as advertised. This cable is just as noisy when plugging in as a normal guitar cable. Doesn't matter which end I use, they both fail completely at the "silent plug-in" test.
The cable itself seems to be of decent quality, so as a regular guitar cable I suppose it's OK, but, the extra expense for the fancy springloaded plugs is wasted money.

I have been playing 24 years, and I honestly do NOT believe cables help your 'tone' What I do think is they can be junk, or they can be good, and they can give you clear signal path, or break up. Analysis is a great instrument cable. It's durable, and didn't break on me at all. I am also a fan of Monster cables(they replace them for free) but I have had to replace Monster cables over and over. I switched to Mogami wire, and they are good as well, and just for tests, after I annihilated one of my monster cables, and switched to Analysis, and I have been happy with them ever since. I've stepped on them, accidentally yanked them out of the instrument, and I'm 229lbs, so there's some pressure on that cable, and yet to have broken it. Again, cables and picks and stuff don't make tone, THAT is in your hands, guitar and amp, the rest of the stuff 'flavors' it. But these cables are durable and worthy of your rig.

Again, a stellar cable, but expensive. Think before purchasing ... or try one out before purchasing, if you can.
The slinet plug feature is stellar. You need to pull the plug fairly straight out not get any noise; pulling at a sliight angle can give some - very limited and brief - noise. Overall, this feature is excellent!
This ia an incredibly well build and durable instrrument cable. Though I've only been using it for a few weeks, it has the look and feel of quality that will last a long time.
This is the hard rating category for me. The cord clearly adds clarity and depth to my electric blues sound, and yet I was NOT blown away by the cable like me say. It sounds better than my Monster cables, and yet to run my whole pedal array I spent over $350. Ouch!!! The richer sound is nice, but I'm not sure worth the price. If you're really into tweaking evey nuance of your sound, these bcables may be the way to go. But if you like to just plug and play and aren't too picky about your sound, I'd suggest not buying these.

...but I did start to notice it - after I wasn't paying attention to trying to determine if I was hearing it or not. My ears just started hearing that the tone was much more the sound of my strings than just my pickups (buggers or singles - I use both). Nice. Anyway, me thinks it's worth the money, but if I could have a do-over, I would go with the conventional plug vs. this 'silent' plug thing. It has a sheath that moves on a spring to do its business. And (good or bad) it will produce no sound unless it is absolutely 'steady' in the jack (i.e., if it moves at all while connected to the instrument, you may lose your signal). Other than that, for what I paid for it, I hope it lasts a long time, I don't leave it in a studio or have a cymbal fall on it.

OMG! I just bought an Analysis Plus (API)cable last week. WOW, what a difference!!! I compared them to my Monster and Fender cables by plugging all in to the same instruments/amps, Fender Telecasters/Strats into vintage Fender Vibro Lux and Mark II Marshalls...Man, there is NO comparison. The API is way clearer. It's like the bandwidth has expanded or something. Like you unplugged your ears. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't try it. The highs are crisper/sharper, the lows are cleaner and slightly "bigger". I used it this weekend, and several musicians commented on my tone. From now on, I'm going to keep the API cable for performing, and use my other cables for practice! I think for instruments that benefit from clear reproduction, especially guitars, both accoustic and electric, and keyboards, this is the only way.
