When I first discovered CS's, I thought "oh, another gimmick" Boy was I wrong. Sure, there are some items for a "wish list" that could be addressed. Attachment to the stand, some wobbling. But you can put in your own socket head cap screw or drum key screw. You could add a nylon bushing--go to any hardware store. We drummers have been gearheads forever and are no strangers to modifying off-the-shelf products to suit our unique needs.
This product has added YEARS of service to my 13" El Sabor, which has some radial damage from heavy use. With the cymbal spring, it still sounds great and the damage has been stopped in it's tracks...
I have two reds and a yellow, and am getting some more, just to make sure I have all of my cymbals set up.
And...if you have a cheapo stand, one of these will up the ante on the cymbal stand.

I used to use cymbal springs years ago. I recently bought some new cymbals and decided to give them a try again. I bought some of the light duty for my splashes and smaller crash, and some heavy duty for my larger crashes and ride. Bottom line: they suck. I have Tama road pro cymbal stands that I think are fairly standard. The screw attachment for the cymbal springs screws directly into the threads of the stand! Not only is this a bad idea for the threads of the stand, but it doesn't hold securly and loosens up after a little playing (unless you srew it so tight that it destroys the threads on the stand. Fortunately, it is hard to get it screwed down that tight, because they use a flat head screw!?!?. Okay, lots of modern equipment uses flat head screw technology, right? They replaced the forgiving felt cymbal washers with two different colors of some kind of rubber or silicone. They don't conform to the cymbals as well as felt, are not as forgiving when they meet the cymbal, and when they contact the cymbal is is audibly noticable. EOR!

    Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

Not a bad idea, if it would screw on straight. I can see the benefit of having one of these, but when I put it on my stand, it didn't feel like it was going to stay on, like the weight was going to pull it down or something. Sorry, but I like the sturdiness of the regular flanged-based cymbal sleeves.

        Cymbal Spring (Terrible)

            Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

This is a far cry from the original Cymbal Spring which worked very well.
You'll find several serious flaws in the design of this version:

            1. The entire point of the Cymbal Spring is for the spring (not the cymbal) to absorb the impact of a stick hit. SInce rubber pads cannot be clamped tightly down onto the cymbal, the cymbal moves around between the pads and the entire purpose of the device is essentially defeated.

            2. The receptacle for the post on your cymbal stand is not deep enough and is too large to be secure.

            3. You'll need a screwdriver (not a drum key) to tighten the clamping screw to the post of the cymbal stand.

            I'd recommend against purchasing this.

Caps right on top of your cymbal stand. a side screw keeps it in place. The spring preserves your plastic cymbal triggers by keeping them from cracking where they mount. They also keep the cymbal from turning so your trigger pad stay where you want it

                Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

Yes, this device will relieve stress on a china type cymbal but it requires one to slide the unit over the stand threads and tighten a screw, which can damage the threads. It should be threaded, so it can screw onto the stand not clamp to it.

9 years and not a single cymbal broken or spring damaged

                By Oscar Almada

                from Mexico.

                Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

As you've all mentioned the cymbal spring allows the cymbal to move and this absorbs the impact, it lets the cymbal vibrate naturally and protects the center, I've recommended them to everyone I know for 9 years. they are a great protection for your investment.
The spring can really take the punishment of metal music. and the rubber doesn't look at all damaged.
They don't even look 9 years old, because I bought extras in case I damaged one or two, and I still have them in their package.Ive Own both cymbal springs for a little over 9 years ALL my cymbals have them( even the splashes and Zilbel) I have a big set up (5- 18" crashes, 2-18" chinas, 2-12" chinas, 2-20" rides and 2-splashes 9" y 11") and I havent damaged a single cymbal, I used to break my crashes a lot. I also have not noticed any damage to the thread of my cymbal posts. On the smaller cymbals(splashes and 12" chinas) I ve used the cymbal springs upsidedown and they've worked fine.
This is a really practical and economic way to protect cymbals, and after 9 years I've gotten a lot more out of them than ever expected. After all this time theres no way to know how many cymbals I would have broken without my springs but before them I broke quite a few.

                Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

I have two heavy cymbal springs for my 18 medium crash, and my 19 inch rock crash, and let me tell you, they can take a beating with these things. I play anywhere from two shows a week, to two shows a month and the cymbals I keep on these havent cracked one bit.At first, the cymbals did react a little weird, they would sway back and forth, very different than it would on a normal stand with felts. What I did was I took the bottom rubber cap, and replaced it with a normal cymbal felt, then screwed the top one back on normally. After that it feels alot more natural!Im about to get a new china [I go through chinas like candy] so Im putting my new one on one of these and Im sure itll last ALOT longer than if I put it on just a normal stand. They really save your cymbals, and if you play alot of shows, and dont have enough money to buy new cymbals every week, they are well worth it.

                Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

These were recommended to me when I was going through a spell of breaking cymbals. The concept works, I guess. I didn't break anymore cymbals. However, after a few weeks, I took them off. They ruined the threads on my stands so I had to replace those parts. The problem for me was the cymbals reacted very differently when you hit them. Instead of just the cymbal dipping on it's pivot, you've got the entire cymbal moving around. It acts like your stand is coming unglued. It's very difficult to control especially if you hit the cymbal in rapid succession. I've had my cymbal knock the stick out of my hand during a performance. All in all, they seem to be made well and I appreciate the concept, I just wouldn't recommend them. The time saved at set up and tear down is very minimal at best. You still have to unscrew a nut!

                Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

I use regular felts and I use rubber washers on some of my crashes. I use the cymbal spring on my 14" Chinas. I have a Wuhan and a K mini China and they both sound great and snap back when hit using this spring. I agree with some of the others that the set screw kind of sucks because it can eat into your threads on your cymbal posts of your cymbal holders. Personally I would never mount a ride or a crash on these. I think they are best suited for chinas. The way a normal crash or ride wobbles and moves is not really what this does. This thing kind of flops back and forth. That motion is okay for a china since they do not move and vibrate the same way as a traditional cymbal. If you are breaking crashes film yourself or practice in front of a mirror and see what you are doing wrong. Drummers generally don't break cymbals all the time unless they are bashing without proper technique or none at all.

These are a great investment to save your heavier cymbals, (especially China cymbals), from bell cracks. It lets the spring absorb the impact from hitting your cymbal instead of the bell.

Honestly guys, this is a MUST HAVE. I've been using these for over 10 years, and they're amazing. I'm not a metal drummer, but sometimes do play heavier louder pop rock songs, and prior to owning these, I've cracked a couple cymbals. I've NEVER cracked a cymbal since switching to these. They allow the cymbal to absorb the impact and flex more naturally. For those who've complained that the screw ruins the stand thread, its irrelevant. I'd never take these off, and they've stayed on secure over the years of playing. Use the red ones for Crash/Splash.... Use Yellow for Ride and larger Chinas.

Where do I start. The concept is good, however poorly engineered. I have 4 China cymbals. For years (20 +) only one was hanging on one of these. Recently (for piece of mind) I installed one on the other three. To my surprise the design hasn't changed in at least 20 years! Just like my original, the top nut doesn't sandwich the cymbal tightly against the bottom nut leaving a gap between the cymbal bell and the top and bottom felts causing all kinds of rattling noise(felts are some kind of hard rubber material, maybe a stiff latex material would be better). I had to install an additional thin felt to dampen the noise! Also, the top nut cross threads easily so be careful when mounting. The other issue is the way they mount on the cymbal boom/stand. They slip over the threads and secure with a set screw that mashes into the stand. Come on, can't they they design a less disfiguring mode of attachment. I guess after 20 years, perhaps not.

I have one of these and I bought one for my nephew. We both use the 10" Wuhan purchased from Musician's Friend.
Keep in mind that you have to really crank the screw down pretty tightly to keep it from wobbling on the boom arm or stand. this will probably cause you to dig into the threads (like I did), but don't worry about those threads and just crank that bad boy down. there will be no need to remove it unless you want to use a regular cymbal later.

These are the only springs I will buy now; I can't imagine how weak the light springs must be. It works pretty well for my 20" china but it still move a little more than I'd like. I would rather save my cymbals though, so I suppose it's worth it. Also, the screw tops are very quick and easy to use.

I went through an 8 and 12" splash in a year. I decided to try the springs and ended up breaking a splash again in less than 5 months. It may work good on larger cymbals, but not on smaller ones. Plus, i like the natural swing, this reacts more like a childs toy on the end of a spring kind of bouncing around. Also, i read another post and had the same problem of the spring coming completely off when hit. Not to mention that when i quit using the spring the threads on my two booms were crushed and non usable. I had to purchase new booms. I have to say they work good on some applications not all. If you like them and want to stick with them forever, then use them. But if your not sure, dont bother; otherwise stick with the natural swing because you will spend more on cymbal booms in the end.
