I was blown away from the sound the first time I heard this drum head. At first I thought it was from my resonant head, but after experimenting on another bass drum of the same size, I found out it was all from the Super Kick! I've tried the Evans Emad, but this Aquarian is still king. Over time those Emads start to rattle and buzz rendering the bass drum head useless. Never again will I have to run those old school felt strips in the bass drum. Thank you Aquarian!

I own a Pearl Masters series BRX kit with a 22 x 18" kick. While I'm still experimenting on a great kick head for this drum, the Super Kick 1 ain't it. After putting the head on, I noticed a significant loss of tone (although I had that infamous "bass increase" Super Kicks are known for). After several frustrating moments tuning both high, low, and medium, I'm left with a one-trick pony head that sounds like a bass-heavy cardboard thwack. Almost no sustain whatsoever. It makes my beautiful birch kick drum sound like it's being choked to death. The flip side is that my D6 picks up what the Aquarian lacks with its natural inclination to grab the "click" of the kick drum through its diaphragm. In my opinion for that big bass sound you need some sustain and click, and the Aquarian robs all of that away. The difference between the Evans EQ3 I previously had on there (which is also dampened in its own way) and the Super Kick is night and day. I'd trade someone in a heartbeat.

I would not recommend this if you want anything other than a dead, thuddy bass drum.

Comments about Aquarian Super Kick I Drumhead:

These heads are magic for those of us who cannot afford a high-end set of drums (and it is great for them as well). I have always liked the tone and feel of the Super Kick I because it is single-ply and not too heavy or thick, with a good attack.

Comments about Aquarian Super Kick I Drumhead:

I am a drummer in a metal band and I just bought these heads today. I play a 9 piece pearl masterworks double bass kit and I put these heads on my kicks and they sound amazing. I recomend this heads to everyone who wants a great sounding head.

Comments about Aquarian Super Kick I Drumhead:

These heads are good as long as you like a completly dead slap. I put these on my double bass mapex pro m after my emad2's broke and I was sick that I wasted about $80 for these heads. I wasn't expecting them too be so dead. I mean they sounded decent but they were WAYYYYYYY to dead for my liking and the problem with a pre muffled head is that you can only add muffleing not take it away after about 3 days of using these I went and got some PS3 and aLOT lot happier.

Comments about Aquarian Super Kick I Drumhead:

For all you people complaining about the head ripping...GET A FALAM PATCH! It cost's on average $5, it multiplies your heads lifespan and gives it a more defined attack.

Comments about Aquarian Super Kick I Drumhead:

I'm a guitarist/bassist that is getting better. I know too much about the drums for how good I am on them. I've rebuilt drums and tune drums for way better drummers than me. These heads are good for rock, punk, hip hop, and other styles that require or are styled for a punchy deep bass. Most drummers don't want much sustain on a bass drum which this doesn't have much sustain at all. Some jazz, world music, and others who want a little top end and sustain will be let down. I love them though.
