The Auralex HD-64Gig HoverDeck Isolation Drum Riser was designed for typical four and five-piece drum kits, and utilizes a set of low-profile isolating boards that assemble quickly via strategically placed hook and loop fasteners.
Stages and traditional drum risers sympathetically vibrate (resonate) with the drums and/or PA system. These resonances feed back to the drums and are then picked up by the mics. The Auralex HoverDeck is specifically engineered to reduce coloration from floor resonance by decoupling the drum kit from the structure, resulting in a tighter, more pure sound for both studio and front of house.
No longer will hollow stages resonate with a muddy rumble, or will concrete floors suck the tone out of your kick drum and floor tom with use of the Auralex HoverDeck Isolation Drum Riser. In the studio, on stage or in the practice room, HoverDeck's rugged MDF (medium density fiberboard), laminate core & web-like ISO-Puck modular risers minimize structure-borne sound transmission and sympathetic vibrations between drums and hardware. Your drums can finally have rumble-free purity of tone like you've never heard before.
Helps keep drum resonance from bleeding into microphones.

Comments about Auralex HoverDeck HD-64Gig with Road Case:
The product does as stated, decoupling your drums from the floor. But it is basically a laminated absorption board, resting on absorption feet, with traction strips adhered in a systematic manner. It is a hard, reflective surface, which scratches very easily and obviously reflects sound, so you must also purchase a drum mat or rug that has a soft or gel backing. I recommend the Ahead drum mat. You will use all of the "extras" it comes with to adhere the pieces together as you wish, and also to strengthen any weak areas in the HoverDeck as you step on it. I can honestly say that i notice a definite difference in my drums; they now thunder when struck.
