Comments about B-Band A1.2N Acoustic Guitar Endpin Preamp:
I installed the pickup in a Martin D-16. Installation was fairly easy for a first-time installer. Good directions, and required no soldering, as some do.
Very "hot" pickup -- feeds back easily on low strings -- needs to be tamed down. The installation template places the transducer strip closer to the bass end pins than the treble ones, so maybe this is the problem. Billed as a more authentic acoustic sound than under saddle pickups, but I don't find much difference. Highs are too brassy and lows boom too much. I plugged it into an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DO Pro Direct Box w/ EQ to modify the sound, and I was able to modify the sound to my satisfaction. Huge volume, but lots of feedback at high volumes. Don't know if one of those sound hole distortion mutes would work with the volume knob sticking out slightly in the sound hole.
Overall, I'm happy with the sound because it allows me to plug in and play open mike sessions, but it doesn't sound as "natural" as my Seymour Duncan Woody mag pickup.
Comments about B-Band A1.2N Acoustic Guitar Endpin Preamp:
I have placed two of the 1470 AST pickups in my guitars (Guild D25 & Yamaha CJ-838S) with no problems. Sound is excellent with even amplification across strings. Feedback is limited with only the Jumbo Yamaha needing a soundhole cover. I had a problem with the A1.2N preamp 2 months after purchase. I contacted B-band and after sending in the broken preamp, they replaced it without cost. Great sound you can install yourself without needing to drill a hole thru the top of your guitar.
