Fully independent Bass and Treble controls with very low noise and wide boost/cut range.

The Bartolini NTBTG Active Preamp Kit uses a 2-band tone control preamp with gain control trim. Potentiometer prewired for both 9 volt or 18 volt.

The NTBTG is a tone control preamp with fully independent Bass and Treble controls with very low noise and wide boost/cut range. It is 2/3 the size of a 9v battery.

The sound is very clear and transparent. Distortion is well below 0.001%. This preamp can be used with either 1 - 9 volt battery ( 9 volt operation) or 2 - 9 volt batteries (18 volt operation) which yields 6 dB extra headroom.

In 9 volt operation the NTBTG uses approximately 750 microamperes of current from 1 - 9 volt battery. This means 1 month of continuous duty or more than 6 months of average usage. In 18 volt operation the NTBT-918 uses approximately 1000 microamperes of current from 2 - 9 volt batteries. This means more than 3 weeks of continuous duty or more than 4 months of average usage.

Comments about Bartolini NTBTG Active Preamp Kit:

The tone circuit does what it does very well. Admittedly, it is limited as there are no midrange boost/cut or sweep features. But, if you have an inexpensive bass that has good acoustical properties, this little thing may be for you. Some basic wiring experience is helpful, and decent soldering skills. That said, it's a breeze.

A quick fix but not a problem solver

By UniBallin

from Shreveport

Comments about Bartolini NTBTG Active Preamp Kit:

I bought this for my ESP D-6. After my preamp went out, and installing a 2nd bad preamp ESP sent me, I decided to just roll with the pickups as passives and I loved the tone. But when I started playing in cover bands, I wanted the D-6 to match my Traben's tone more so I could switch in and out without turning knobs on my amp.1- The ease of installation. I have been modding and teching guitars for years and honestly I looked at this and said wow, this is a project. I actually just dropped it off at the local shop (granted that was mainly because I'm backed up on jobs for other people) but I say that to say this, this isn't for your guitar handy man to do.2- It does give you more control over your tone. You do get a pickup selector and it gives you a nice little power boost. But honestly, the controls are sparse. I have a hard time telling the difference between 0 and 10 on the knobs. I do have the enhanced power but I just cannot come near matching the tone of the Traben. I think this is mainly for people who want the power of actives. My suggestion would be to simply change your pickups with some EMG actives. If you are really wanting a new onboard preamp, look at Aguilar or Carvin. Honestly either of them would be better bets. For the reasons I think people would be buying this product, I would say its a cheap solution to a problem. It will give the the power, but not the functionality.

Great pre-amp

By ANGEL-sAewf

Comments about Bartolini NTBTG Active Preamp Kit:

I installed this pre0amp in my Warwick Corvette Standard and it can get a big bottom or clear highs. I made it an 18 volt, and always get complements on my tone.
