I really can't believe I'm this satisfied-it's amazing! I'm buying another set for my Ibanez!
I bought these to get a better tone from my 2000 American P. I've had this bass for 10 years and never played it because it sounded like crap! When I finally purchased the SPB's, I couldn't wait to start using them. I installed these babies myself and it could not have been easier with the instructions that came with them. I'm proud to say that my Fender is now my main axe!
The warm rich tone is worth the price- these babies outperform the crap that came with my p-bass by far!
Well worth the price! In my mind, they've already paid for themselves

i've had these pups in three different p-bases now, a 1980's pawnshop p-bass copy, a 2005 highway one, and a 2000 american p. all of them sound better without losing the character of the instrument itself. more output (dial back the volume to keep your SVT clean). fat-but-still-round tone that cuts and punches at the same time. totally reasonable price. none of the battery-related hassle of active pickups.

if you've ever wondered why your bass doesn't sound like the ones you hear on your records, it's because you don't have these pickups and guys like steve harris, scott shifflett and jay bentley do.
no laser beams or anything.
there's a reason everybody owns a bass with these in it. good magnets, consistent winding, quality workmanship. decent gauge leads although nothing to write home about. but the instructions deserve 5 stars alone.
there is certainly nothing better for the same amount of money or less; that deserves five stars as far as i'm concerned.

Comments about Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound P Bass Pickups:

These pickups come standard on the Fender Mark Hoppus P-Bass. I recently came into possession of a 2003 Mark Hoppus bass (before the pickup was reverse wound), and I have to say that it quickly became my favorite bass because of the pickup. Comparing it to my Standard P-Bass, this pickup has such a higher level of attack and mid-range than the stock Fender one. I also like that it takes away some of the flatness I was experiencing on my E string (when I was using Ernie Ball Power Slinkys). Overall, this pickup is great for the rock genre and has a nice pop when playing slap, though I feel like it lacks the versatility to play other types of music. Definitely a good purchase for anyone looking to get that gritty rock tone from their P-Bass.

Comments about Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound P Bass Pickups:

My main bass is a Music Man Stingray 4HH, and being an active bass with two big humbuckers, it has some serious output. When I got a Fender P-bass (passive), I thought it sounded weak in comparison. With this pickup, I don't have have to make any volume adjustments on my amp when switching basses. It's like my p-bass is on steroids! Serious punch on the A-string, and a major improvement!

First upgrade a P-bass owner should make

      By BRANDON SMITH

      from San Diego, CA

Comments about Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound P Bass Pickups:

Vastly improved the tonal range, easy enough to install and adds some punch without distortion. Great value!
I was almost convinced that my tone knob was only there for looks before I put these in. Definitely helps cut through a wall of guitars. Pretty easy to install too

A good all round replacement pickup.

      By MCbass18

Comments about Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound P Bass Pickups:

I am currently using an SPB-3 in my MIJ JV series Precision Bass that i put in about 6 months ago. It was easy to install and i've had no issues with it as of yet. However, i'm not 100% satisfied with how well it reproduces a vintage precision bass tone for Motown, R&B and Blues styles. When i crank the tone knob up, it sounds a bit more "honky" then i would prefer. I find myself having to tweak it a lot to get to the "sweet spot". Putting Flatwound strings on helped cut down the mid frequency "Honkyness".For modern styles, such as Indie and Modern Rock, with a pick and Roundwound strings, it would sound right at home.

      Clear and Powerful

      By Artem

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound P Bass Pickups:

I've bought spb-3 last December and installed these into my 92 MIM P-bass and I should say it absolutely met my expectations, I was able to get the sound I wanted for so long. The tone range is like wider and richer. Great pickup for rock n roll, alternative and other rock genres in my opinion. Easy to install. The output signal is couple db higher than the generic pickup. the only thing i didn't like was the pickup would fall "inside" if I didn't put additional foam layer under it. Overall - great upgrade for a p-bass.
