OVERVIEW

Learn to play the most complex rhythms with total accuracy and great feel.

The Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer helps increase accuracy and feel in ways never before possible. Each one of Beatnik's multiple analyzers evaluates a unique aspect of your timing and rhythmic skills. Multiple views of the timing data instantly reveal technical strengths and weaknesses to help you instantly analyze your technical precision and speed up your progress toward total rhythmic fluency and accuracy.

After you set the desired rhythm on the built-in metronome, simply start the playback and strike the touch-sensitive practice pad. Beatnik's large graphic display shows a visual representation of every stroke in real time and records every stroke in a viewable archive, with pinpoint accuracy to the nearest 512th note where your strokes occurred in relation to the actual beat.

For evaluating and improving your rhythm and timing performance, nothing compares to the Beatnik!

Multiple built-in accuracy analyzers each measure different aspects of your rhythmic and timing accuracy.

Multiple views of stroke timing data instantly reveal insight into your dynamics, rhythm, and timing control.

Records and displays stroke history for reviewing summaries of your stroke timing data.

Tracking analyzer helps you improve transitions between changing subdivisions while maintaining consistent rhythm and correct timing. You can switch freely between any subdivision and Beatnik tracks your playing, displaying the timing and score in realtime and recording everything for a summary review when you can examine the timing history of each subdivision.

A phrase analyzer helps you improve performance accuracy of complicated and extended rhythmic phrases. You can set a rhythmic phrase up to 8 beats in length, incorporating any combination of note and rests. Records every stroke so you can review the phrase performance history note by note.

The internal metronome is one of the world's most advanced metronomes ever. It can test you on any permutation for every note value from quarter to thirty-second notes. Note values include: quarter note; eighth note; eighth note triplets; sixteenth notes; 5 over 1; sixteenth note triplets; 7 over 1; thirty-second notes.

Select between four skill levels to allow a wider tolerance for timing accuracy and scoring as follows: expert: within one 512th note; high: within three 512th notes; medium: within five 512th notes; low: within seven 512th notes.

Tap tempo sets the tempo based on strokes, allowing you to manually start a practice session later.
Tap start uses count-off beats to set the tempo and automatically start a practice session on the fly.

In my opinion this is most fun and addicting practice pad out there with the best value! This device will show exactly how accurate your timing is and show the velocity of each hit. This allows you to see which hand is stronger and weaker which such an amazing feature. Within 30 mins of messing around I already noticed some improvement in my timing! My favorite feature is the phrase trainer. You can map out your own combination of quarter notes, eighth notes, eight note triplets , sixteenth notes, quintuplets (5over1), sixteenth note triplets, septuplets (7over1), and thirty-second notes into 8 slots ( each slot= 1 beat). This allows you to setup different rhythms tailored to your specific needs while in the same process showing your accuracy. This pad is great for practicing rudiments as well. If your serious about improving your timing or just need a practice pad with great features look no further. I highly recommend this product! I love this thing! I will never use a normal practice pad again!

I bought one of these hoping it would serve as a great practice tool. The feel of the pad is comfortable, and the controls are very user friendly. The reason I give it a low quality rating is because the batteries would not stay in place. So every time the pad was struck, the batteries would become loose even with the cover attached. The springs that connect the batteries to the contact points were not tight enough. The only time this worked was when I connected a power adapter (not the one sold to be used with it, this was for another electronic device, but same voltage). So this problem kind of defeated the purpose of it being mobile. Overall this is a decent machine for practice, but I'll just stick with a standard met and practice pad.

A rudiment's best friend

Comments about Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer:

The Beatnik RA is a practice pad that anyone who desires to become extremely accurate with every drum stroke they play should buy. Don't let your ears fool you when you are playing with just a metronome on your practice pad. You may think you are hitting every note dead on but this may not be the case. To be able to have real time feedback on your accuracy and the evenness of your strokes (when it comes to how hard you actually hit the pad) makes the RA worth every penny. You can analyze how each hand is hitting the drum so that you can make adjustments to let your weak hand catch up, with data to confirm your progress.

The RA also makes practicing much more enjoyable as you can make adjustments on the fly with the feedback you get and go through the four different difficulty levels, sort of like an extremely simple video game. When you sit and play and the RA tells you that you have hit the note too early or late you are motivated to do better. I've found that it makes rudiment practice very addictive.

I won't go into great detail on all the features as there is a youtube video that goes over everything. The only thing I would add to the RA is the ability to print off your practice history so you can keep records and compare where you were a week, month or year ago, and what you are accomplishing today. If Beatnik could come up with a program like this for bass pedal work it would take things to a whole new level.

    Comments about Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer:

If you're looking to improve your timing and control I would definitely recommend this practice pad. I've been using it as a stand-alone practice tool and for warming up. It really takes the monotony out of practicing with a metronome. It doesn't come with a power adapter but it comes with batteries, so if you don't feel like getting the adapter right away, you'll be fine. The bonus of the battery feature is not being bound to an area near an outlet.

Read the product write up - this practice pad delivers it all. Pad is responsive so what you do transfers exactly to actual performing. Easy to read while practicing - good, highly visible backlit display that gives immediate feedback you can see as you play. No stopping to review like when you record - you adjust as you practice. No interruptions. Helps correct the tiny timing / velocity issues that can be missed by your ear. This pad would be very valuable to students early on (after getting the basics down) all the way to really experienced musicians who want to have accurate feedback to stay on top of their game.

This thing is great! It is so addicting too! I feel my time improve every time I use it. Mine works just fine. It does not come with a AC adapter unfortunately but it does come with batteries (6 AAs) and they last a long time. They don't mention this, but it does have a screw hole in the bottom to attach to a cymbal stand. The beatnik's controls are very easy to use as well (my wife figured it out by herself in about 15 minutes). If you are any bit of a serious drummer, I highly recommend the beatnik.

              Comments about Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer:

I wish this was around 26 years ago. For a beginner this is a must to even a pro who wants to keep absolute perfect timing. I've played drums when I was younger till a accident made me stop for 10 years. I bought a drum set and can still play, but knew my timing was a little off. When I first started to use Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer I could see exactly why I was off, weakness's and easily correct my timing. Love the analyzer and everything about it. I think they need to make a version for those who have midi drums or triggers on their sets. Make it analyze the whole drum set. This would be powerful and with just adding the who aspect of a set in through midi. Think about it.

I love this thing i could practice snare drumming on it all day. they should make a double bass drum version of this too. once i found the real-time analysis screen and figured out that you could hit every other beat and still see where you are at, timing-wise, i was hooked. recommended for any drummer, for learning, warm-up, or just checking to make sure you are right on the beat!

I love the Beatnik. This device is a 21st century tool for perfecting your timing. It makes metronome practice interesting because you receive an ongoing accuracy score as you practice. It's so flexible that you can adjust it to whatever you want to learn: quarter notes, eighths, and sixteenths. I've been using it daily for about a month and have improved my timing score by about 20%.

It shows immediately where you hit and is alot of fun. Any drummer that wants to help their rhythm needs this.

              a serious learning tool

              Comments about Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer:

Using the Beatnik 15 minutes a day for about 2 months has noticably improved my timing and evenness with various sticking patterns. It's great for exercising plain patterns, but less useful if they include flams or drags. For practice material I like to use "Stick Control" by George Stone, that book goes very well with this product.

Wow this thing is an awesome tool. I was amazed to find out that even at very slow tempos playing quarter notes that I was slightly off and slightly inconsistent. My ear and brain tell me I'm playing with the metronome but the beatnik shows me the truth. In a single evening I've already made progress towards fixing that. This is a must have.

YOU can determine how difficult (or easy) you want your time workout to be. After 30 minutes with the Beatnik my drumming is definitely more solid and in the groove. This is great for the set player and the snare drummer. I wish I'd have had this when I started playing back in the 70's. Every serious drummer needs one.
