If you are a studio guy or a hobbyist, this plug makes a lot of sense. While its kind of pricey for what it is and I saw comparable "knock offs" for the price range, it just didn't make sense to risk my $$ ME-70 for a little price difference. And now I know I have MF and Boss to stand behind me stuff.
Its a plug...
This is what scared me a little. I really didn't want to have to buy batteries for my ME-70 and "compatible" adapters scared me so dispite what I read that the quality was poor I bought it anyway. After examining it closely I can say it appears to be made about as well as any other adapter I own, if not better. I have to say I am not a gigging musician; more of a studio guy, so perhaps in a road scenario it doesn't stand up as well but that could be said about anything, really.
There are 2 reasons to get this:
1. Never have to buy batteries again
2. If you use it with the ME-70 (and probably any other pedal), it shuts off the device once you cut power to it. This means you don't have to unplug the input jack. I have it hooked up to a rack mounted "rack oft switches" so I can turn it off with a quick flip. I hated the fact hat I had to plug and unplug the input chord all the time. Again for a gigging musician this is much less of an issue. Chances are you would want the battery advantage for the cordless point.

I generously rated the PSA-120S Power Adapter 2 stars only because of its slim design and its power strip space-saving ability.
These adapters do not last! I have already purchased 4 replacements, and they all have malfunctioned the same way -- the wire develops a short where it comes out of the plastic casing. In fact, one of the two last replacements was defective (in the same way) right out of the box!
Its also worth noting that I have not been out gigging with these adapters and they have never left the basement studio, and so they have not been subjected to any rigorous set-up or breakdown activity and they still malfunction -- I would probably need to buy them by the case if I were out gigging!
In my opinion the PSA-120S are poorly manufactured, they are not dependable, and I would not recommend them to anyone! They're fine while they are operating properly, but unfortunately that's usually not for too long!

Bummer, Very Cheaply made Product

Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

Look for a better option, this one is not good
The power supply has never left the practice stage, it has been plugged in to one outlet and it failed after 6 months of ownership. This is very cheaply made. I would suggest finding another power supply.
Not a good buy for the money, you have to replace it every 6 months.

      Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

I owned 2 of these adapters to power my pedals with boss' recommendation. After a while of use one of the adapters failed during a jam leaving me without a pedal for the rest of the day. I was disapointed but thought maybe it was a fluke until the exact same thing happened again with the other PSA adapter. Now i know that its just poor quality garbage. You can get better or same quality adapters for much less cost.

          Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

The adaptor works as promised and only takes up one outlet on the power strip. However, the "hump" in the middle is odd and bulky. Not to mention they are almnost twice the price of most other adaptors. I would recommend the Dunlop ECB-003. Works just as well and almost half the price. Only drawback on the Dunlop is the transformer is bulky when compared to this one. But they do work with boss pedals. :)

          Trim and Slim

          By Cuzzman

          Ask me a question

          Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

I like its trim and slim design and the direction it faces when pligged into my power strip, but my only negative comment about the PSA-120S is the plastic device attached to the power cord is a bit big and bulky -- I wish it could be made smaller.
Hey, it provides 9 volts to my pedals the way any other adapter would, but its best feature is its trim and slim design and the positioning/placement of the plug prongs. The PSA-120S adapter when plugged into a power strip because of it design does not overhang and cover the adjacent outlet like other bulky adapters do, allowing for another PSA-120S to conveniently plug in beside each other.
I currently own 3 other PSA-120S adapters and they have performed flawlessly for well over a year.
I am continuously plugging and unplugging them into my pedals, and thus far I have had no problems with the tip or wiring on any of them. If you don't abuse them or try unplugging them from your pedal by yanking on the wire I don't see why the PSA-120S would not last you a long time.
They are a real space saver on my power strip and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the same.
The are sturdy and well constructed of heavy duty durable plastic, and the plug prongs which are molded into the plastic are sturdy and tight as well.
I think they are well worth their cost. I have purchased others which only lasted 7-8 months or the plug prongs began to loosen and ultimately failed -- and then there was the inconvenience of their bulkiness covering the adjacent pwer strip outlet. The PSA-120S is the way to go!

Too expensive for a low quality unit

          By Darwin Bolaños

          Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

Not usefull at all for a professional musician.
The on board LED tells if it works or not... at least!!
I bought one on last april, worked for a month. I used it with a Line selector LS-2, it started lowering down the power, all of the pedals attached to the LS-2 started misbehaving, the LEDs turned so weak or even not lighting up at all but the pedals still work but with low gain, can't imagine the trouble I've had when live playing'cause can't tell when the pedals are on or off. Randomly the whole audio was going off. Thanks God I had a cheap Zoom 9v, 300mA AC adapter in my tools box and even though I've had it for over 5 years it works perfectly fine.
Too expensive for a so low quality unit.

Bought this to power my BOSS ME-80 multi-effects pedalboard after a generic pedal power adapter didn't seem to work. This one was a little more expensive, but still cheaper than it was selling at other retailers and does the job.

            Comments about Boss PSA-120S Adapter:

The PSA-120S AC Adapter lacks quality, workmanship, and endurance! This is the 4th adapter I've purchased, each to replace one which has become defective, and all with the same defect ... the wire shorts out near the plastic casing! It is also worth noting that I've not played out or exposed these adapters to any rigorous activity and they still short out without ever having left the basement studio -- something you may wish to keep in mind before purchasing!
