I have owned this tuner for several years. It is the best tuner I have ever used, except for a digital rackmount unit I used to have. The rackmount was about $700 (it had other featuers as well), so for far less than that this tuner is the best. Besides being a musician, I do guitar set up on the side. This tuner allows me to quickly tune and set the intonation on any guitar. It is actually a joy to use. It's just that easy. Even a beginer can use it. Do yourself a favor, beginner or pro, buy and use this tuner, it's just great!

Going strong for 25 years

By Jim K.

from Nashville-Music City USA

See all my reviews

I have had this tuner for 25 years and it still works flawlessly. Two of my sons each have the same tuner and they have never had any problems. Their tuners are over 10 years old. The only slight crticism is that sometimes it is difficult to change the battery as it fits tightly in the battery compartment. I highly recommentd this tuner.

I love this tuner!!

I've been using this tuner so long I can't even remember when I bought it. It's done it's job and then and it's time to buy a new one I'm afraid.I have been looking around for something different, if for no other reason than simply somehting different to look at, but keep coming back to the TU-12H. It's done such a great job for so many years I can't think of any reason to switch. So when I do finally retire my original TU-12H it will definitely be with another one.

Great for guitar, good for bass

By kevin-MFgjF

from the boonies

I traded a friend a digitech rp100 for this. I think it was a great trade. I play both bass and guitar and this tuner can almost handle the job...It works perfectly for guitar but it doesn't pick up the low-B on my bass. Very accurate and still running strong after two incidents with my puppy

The TU-12H Lives Long

By paulb_kw

from Kitchener ON

This tuner has been around since the early 80's and has stood the test of time for reliability and longevity. I don't think you can go wrong with is in your gig bag.

Great for all stringed instruments

By Tony the Tour Guy

from New York City

I've used a TU-12H for guitar, bass, banjo and cello. It's great for everything, although I've found it a bit difficult to use when tuning a low "E" on my bass. If you're into alternate tunings, or play a variety of instruments, this tuner is invaluable.

Good universal tuner

This tuner is a bit old fashioned in terms of design, but its perfect for me because it tunes EVERYTHING! Banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass... I haven't come across anything this wont tune. Also it comes with a little case that's not shown here, its nice because you can fold it up and it stands the tuner up, and it has cut outs for the cables. I just wish it had led's so I could read it in the dark.

This product is incredibky reliable, accurate, rugged, and unlike everything else digital... timeless. A classic. I paid the same price 20 years ago.

Good Unit!

By John-Z1ax.

from Newe Hampshire

I bought one of these tuners almost 20 years ago, and I am still using it on stage today! This unit is very dependable and as long as you remeber to switch it off whan u are not using it, then the batteries last a long time. You can always buy the AC adapter.

Drains battery

By Skimmer

from San Diego, CA

All in all, a good tuner, but my main gripe is that the battery slowly drains when the unit is turned off. In about three months, the battery is completely dead, and those 9V batteries are expensive!Chromatic tuners are the way to go for guitars. It helps in case you want to tune down a 1/2 step. Also, good for checking intonation across various harmonic regions across the fret board.

Since 1984

By The Smelter

from Edmonton, Alberta

I've been using the TU- 12H since 1984. I've used on variety of instruments including drums. I've recently purchased a new one. The old one has a broken window(machine head size) but still works. The needle is less than accurate. If I find another one I will buy it because they are no longer in production.

Way better than the pedal tuner

By Tim Heil

from Bend, OR

I have this tuner and the pedal tuner. I use this one through my tuner out on a dunlop volume pedal. It works great and is very accurate which works well when intonating. Overall, this tuner is on the top of the list.

Battery

By Fetus

This tuner does its job. When I got my first guitar I used this tuner. Every time I use it for my jackson I get amazing tune accuracy. Only problem I see with it is the battery. I have to change it a lot.

22 Years and Still Going, and going, and going....

By HappyBossTunerOwner

from Atlanta, GA

I have now owned this same guitar tuner for 22 years - yes, 22 years and it is still working perfect. I have also owned about 15 other tuners by other commpanies over that same period and everyone one of them died within 24 months. Since you can always use a 2nd guitar tuner around, I am buying another Boss/Roland tuner this time. Something I should have done...22 years ago.

Excellent tuner

By JJ-ICf6o

from San Francisco

I used this tuner for 15+ years, it is accurate, durable and the battery is difficult to change. I use a stomp box tuner for the stage (several as a matter of fact) and I will use this tuner to "check out" those other tuners. I highly recommend this tuner!

10,000 Tunings Can't Be Wrong

By Grey Dog

from The OC

I've had one of these since they came out, and it is still doing the job. If they are even closely making them like they used to, you can't go wrong. Just don't forget to turn the damn thing off, or lay in a supply of 9V's.

very good!!!!!

By a very humble bassist

from Waltham, MA

This tuner is very accurate. This tuner is good for both guitar and bass. It picks up the E string on my bass just as fast as any other notes. Too bad that it doesn't have a metronome of something cool. But as a tuner, it does its job very well.
