Comments about Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass:
i gave it a 7 due to the fact is has no built in back-light or other method to see the needle and notes in low-lit rooms. plus, it seems that it needs a lot of power for a device that has no light. the 9V battery does not last very long.
this tuner does a good job but my only complaint is the LED display is difficult to see/read. one needs a lot of ambient light to see the LED needle and notes. its tough to use/see in lower light situations.
it seems to be quite accurate, plus its easy to use.
Comments about Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass:
I just received this unit yesterday along with a set of Yamaha studio headphones. I must say...it was money well spent. A tuner, headphone amp, and metronome for just under $70 is a pretty good deal! Based on my initial perspective it gets very high marks, and I'd recommend it to anyone. A friend of mine has a version that has effects and also the capacity to store music, but I believe it cost him a couple hundred bucks! This product obviously doesn't have those features, but it's great for what it is.
Comments about Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass:
Ok. I've tested one but not extensively.I want the features of a good tuner and an excellent micro monitor, which this product offers. But I want a decent metronome as well with as many rhythm styles as I want. Like it took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to set the rhythms on the metronome and I still wasn't completely satisfied. Do i have the option of only sounding the e's and ah's when i'm counting off a 4 4 in sixteenths? I want this feature and I wasn't able to figure it out. Now maybe its not there or maybe I don't know how to set it.I'll buy it this very instant if I get to know how to work that out.Is there any other rhythm watch - bass tuner - micro monitor out there?
Comments about Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass:
I bought one of these about a month ago primarily as a practice device to use while I'm traveling as part of my work, and for quiet practice at home. At the moment, I use it to work on my bass chops with lessons and jam tracks stored on my iPod.The sound is very good with a decent set of headphones, and the aux input feature was exactly what I needed in a small headphone amp. The tuner and metronome are useful additions for a practice amp. My only wishes would be to have a larger variety of rhythm styles and especially more sound options for the 'nome other than bip, boop, boop, boop...It's basic, no effects or bells and whistles, and all the imperfections of my technique are painfully audible.I have used it with a small variety of bass guitars which I own, and it brings out the individual sounds of those instruments quite well.I can also get a good sound running the phones output to a mixer/PA.To protect the case and LCD screen from scratches while it's in a bag with the various cables and things used for connectivity, I stuff it into a short gym sock. Works like a charm.Overall, I'm very pleased with it. The price is not unreasonable for a headphone amp with built-in tuner and metronome.
Comments about Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass:
I was really excited to have a tuner with a metronome with a tap feature, and this does that very well. However, no back light, and the screen is very dark and hard to see if not under direct light, does have two tuning lights - fortunately the tu-2 is my normal stage tuner. Overall, overpriced for a backup tuner and nome.
