OVERVIEW

A Greenback for the new generation.

Celestion released a version of the popular G12 guitar loudspeaker called the G12M back in the 1960s. With its medium-weight magnet this speaker had a tone that was silky smooth and warm, while still retaining the brightness and punch necessary to cut through the rest of the band. The Greenback, as it is nicknamed today, was also a highly articulate speaker, perfect for the pioneering lead guitarists of the time. A classic had been born.

Over subsequent years, the Greenback has evolved and remains popular with guitarists and amp manufacturers to this day. As the speaker developed, though, its tonal characteristics moved away from those of the original '60s model.

Adhering precisely to the design notes and specifications for the original speaker, rediscovered during a recent factory move, and using exactly the same materials and construction techniques, Celestion has re-created the classic 1960s G12M for a new generation of rock and blues guitarists.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12M 20W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

If you have an expressive amp and your playing style leans toward rock and blues, you need to try these speakers. I have a Fender Super-Sonic Twin that stays in Club mode (25 watts), and though I am a fan of Celestion Vintage 30's, I wanted to up the mojo. Changing to these speakers took an already great amp to the next level. Set the damping control on the amp to Loose and you'll be amazed at the vintage tones they deliver from your favorite Tele or Strat. If you try these speakers in an application similar to mine, just be sure to stay within the power handling limit of your speaker setup.

Comments about Celestion Heritage G12M 20W, 12" Vintage Guitar Speaker:

I bought this to replace the Celestion G12H30 that comes in the EVH 212 because I found that extremely harsh and boxy sounding. This thing is smooth and warm, and doesn't have that spiky harsh high end that the Vintage 30 and the G12H30 have. I actually do have it in the 212 with a V30 and together they sound awesome (my V30 is a bit modified though). Buy it!

Sounds much better than the stock speaker that came with the amp.
