Comments about Chauvet DJ Lighting Stand CH-02 with TBAR and 2 Arms:

I just bought one of these, thrilled to think I could get a heavy duty 12' stand so cheap.
I guess sometimes we really get what we pay for.
It arrived and I saw the packaging had been abused a bit. Inside, all 3 of the black plastic 'T's were broken in multiple pieces. I contacted Chauvet, who said they'd send me replacements. I figured it was just poor handling. Then I went to set up the parts I had, in preparation for an upcoming gig.
First of all, no matter how much I tightened the main tripod base fitting, it never really felt secure - I was able to push down and collapse the tripod legs. I was really worried that the fitting would just crack and break altogether.
Unless I just got a very rare, poorly fabricated main fitting, I have to say that this thing is quite useless.
The fact that all these plastic fittings cracked and broke in shipping speaks volumes.
I can't imagine anyone really feeling confident about using a stand like this.
Who would be irresponsible enough to put a bunch of expensive lighting fixtures on a stand that isn't solid? Not a good idea.
Also, this thing is quite heavy, I think it's about 23 lbs.
I ended up sending it back for a refund, going online and doing some research for a replacement. I found another brand, one I've used as far as 30 years back. Their stand is 11 feet tall, has really heavy duty metal fittings ("30 times stronger than plastic"), has a bunch of extra features, including a dampened lowering system, a twist lock, a levelling leg, a soft case and a limited Lifetime Warranty. It is also lighter than the Chauvet stand.
Sure it cost me an additional money, but the reality is that there are some places you can't cheap out. Some items have to be seen as investments.

If you can't afford a better stand than this one, go out and rent one until you can. At least your other gear won't be in jeopardy.

I got 4 of these and the clams are already breaking. Not worth saving money for these. Stick with the better brands
