I bought my first Clayton strap in 1976 to sling my Gibson Les Paul Custom. I still have and use this same strap today! For those not used to a Les Paul, they are probably one of the heaviest guitars on the market. That really says a ton about my Clayton strap - heat, sweat, and supporting the heaviest guitar I own, and doing it for over 30 years. The 3 1/2 inches of leather distributes the weight much better and conforms to your shoulder. I play for hours on end, and the thick nylon weave straps look really cool but just cut into my shoulder too much - especially the ones with heavy ribbed edges. The Clayton straps don't adjust quickly but that is not really a minus because this strap will never accidently lengthen itself. I now own a couple of the 3 1/2" black ones and have never been disappointed. Very good and reliable product.

I own a Levvy's solid leather strap that is awesome. I wasn't able to get the same style in the color I wanted, so I ordered the Clayton one since the description was the same thing and it had good reviews. When it arrived, the package said "leather upper, suede like backside".... its a thin layer of leather on top of a man made material!! I was extremely let down that NO WHERE in the descripion does it mention this. From past reviews, it looks like Clayton use to make full leather straps.... but BEWARE, this is NOT 100% LEATHER. It will do the job for awhile, so I'll keep it, but it will not last for as long as a solid strip of leather would. Clayton needs to update their description so others don't get let down!

Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
This single layer of tanned leather is soft and supple. Revwersable has a polished smooth side and a 'rough suede' back side.

Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
I'm 6'3" 200lbs, and prefer the electric guitar at my waist, and it is possible only at the last strap groove. A taller or heavier player might find it too short. The tassel for acoustic adds six or eight inches or so and length is less of an issue.
Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
Cheap, cheap, cheap quality. Looks like it would shed like crazy. Appears to be unfinished and would likely be very uncomfortable and take a long time to break in. Very stiff. Ordered this one and the 2.5 inch wide one, both appear to be about the same except the width and equally cheap. Sending both back. There are much better straps in the 15 dollar range.

Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
Width beats padding for comfort.I play a Les Paul and a Cort Source. Both are very heavy and I have thin shoulders. I have a thickly padded 2-inch strap and my left shoulder gets sore after fifteen minutes. I bought one of these 3.5-inch straps and it's a huge improvement. Way more comfortable than the padded 2-inch strap and it keeps my guitars in place.I'm buying another one as soon as I can. The brown looks good on my Sunburst Les Paul, but I'm getting a black one for my cherry red Source. One more thing; it fits in my guitar cases much better than the thickly padded one.
Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
I just got this strap today. It was a little thinner than I expected but when I tried it on I was immediately pleased. The wideness really distributes the weight of my Tele perfectly, it doesn't dig into my neck and shoulders like my 2". It's almost like your guitar is floating there in front of you. It is going to be a lot nicer for long sets on stage. It has pleanty of slots for adjustment so for those of you who like it down to your knees or people like me who like it right above the waist. I think I just may another for a backup and some for the guys in my band.
Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
This is a good guitar strap. It's one piece of leather so it's not too thick like most leather straps that are two pieces sewn together. You can hook up strap locks to this thing very easily and it's solid and thick to support a heavy guitar. i use it on my LP custom and it supports the weight nicely w/o putting too much pressure on my shoulder. The one negative thing i can say about it is that its kind of "elastic" so there's some stretching to go through but once it's broken in it feels very solid. I'm going to buy a couple more i think. It's the closest thing I've found to my vintage ernie ball leather strap which i love.
Comments about Clayton 3-1/2" Leather Guitar Strap:
I bought this Clayton 3.5" strap based on the reviews. It is a good strap, but you need to know that it's hard tanned leather, and not a soft one. That means it can be rough on your neck if you're playing with it for a while and/or your guitar is heavy. You might want to take a look at a Franklin Strap or another suede or other strap that specifically says soft leather if that's what you're after. This one would definitely be durable for the long haul though.
