Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

My quest for the perfect pick may have come to an end. Finally a pick I can hold onto comfortably. These picks kinda have a tortex feel to them except they are faster and a lot less clucky.
I d love to try triangular nylons heavy if Clayton or any other company would offer those,.. just an idea...

      These picks kick Jazz!

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I have used different Clayton picks in the past. These Black Jazz picks in 1.26mm are now my go-to pick to pull out the tone on my Martin D-18GE. Pure, clean, loud tone, you can pick soft and still not loose the mojo, less pick noise and in jet black. They stick to your finger and thumb even when your hands get sweaty. I love 'em.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I normally use fairly thick picks. 1.0 is my norm. Yes picks that big make a racket when playing because you are hitting the strings with a big chunch of plastic. After reading some of the comments here I decided to go with one of the thinner picks the .63. As a lead player I can tell you the .63 picks are not good lead picks. They are just like any other pick that size, too thin, but....these are good quite picks. I'm going to order the next larger size .80 to see if I can get a better attack without the noise. So far I am impressed with the .63 picks, just not enough to grip the strings with, but they are good quite picks.
      Its a pick, what features.
      Its a pick.
If it lasts, its a good value.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I have been using Clayton Acetal picks for a while now and were quite happy with them. I only use .50mm as I don't pick hard and play mostly lap slide. I figured I would try these Black Ravens for the heck of it and I'm glad I did. Pick noise all but disappeared. It's a bid unorthodox maybe, but and when I use the wide side for strumming, pick noise is gone completely. I'm ordering more now.

Has zero pick noise. The large pick is very comfy to hold and you can control it much easier than many of the small tear drop shaped picks.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I love the Black Raven pick. It has a nice feel to it and with the larger surface area of the triangle pick, it doesn't slip out of your hand. I prefer a medium thickness pick when playing and like the .63mm and .80mm thicknesses. One thing I really like is that the Black Raven doesn't give that pick scratch sound when it hits the strings. The regular Clayton white acetal picks don't respond the same way. My only complaint is that image rubs off after a while and because the picks are colored the same way, you can't tell the thickness.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

The Black Ravens create the warmest brightest tone for my 12 string and 6 string acoustics. I'm primarily a strummer so I found the .63mm to be perfect for my style. The .50mm and the .80mm don't quite have the perfect shimmery tone that the .63 has. Also, I converted to the triangle pick a couple years ago, maybe due to aging hand strength, and I can hold onto these easier than a standard shape pick. So I essentially have 3 picks in 1.
Shimmery tone, easier to hold, 3 picks in 1, virtually unbreakable.
          Perfect qualities for me.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I like em. I use em. They should color code them for guage sizes.
Other than picking a new melody, I really don't play much lead, so I don't need a hard-ass pick. I was using Clayton Acetel 38's but shredded them pretty quick. (Although for mellow strumming or on my old '28 Martin, the 38's are OK. I moved up to 50's but found i was too hard on them. I bought some 63's and 80's on my last go-round and found the 80's too stiff for me, but the 63's are perfect. I still use the 50's at times but not as often as before. The one problem I have with the Black Raven picks is that there is absolutely no difference in the appearence from the 50, to the 63 to 80 to 1.0. At least with their Acetal picks, their is a very slight color variation in the logo. It is very difficult to pick out a 63 instead of a 50 when you are in the middle of a tune. They should do something about that.
They don't slip much. They don't end up bent and curved. Not a whole lot of pick noise.
I mean.. how much can a pick cost?

          A fine guitar pick.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I love the shape of a 'triangle' pick and it is large enough to grip and play many styles. I go from post punk to delicate single string arppegios in a single set and this pick does everything I need. It is even easy to palm despite it's size. The main reason I changed is, believe it or not, it's packaging. Other traingle picks in little plastic cases will come open in transit and fall out of a box when it is shipped with other items. Musician's Friend is always great about replacing the picks, but is a nuisance that is easily avoided. Instead of ordering picks separately I merely order the Black Raven picks and know that they'll get here with no trouble and I'll enjoy a quality product when it arrives.
          It's a guitar pick.
This plectrum is above average in quality. It lasts well with much use.
It is well worth the price which is about average for this style pick.

These picks feel great and look great as well. The texture is similar to Dunlops or others with a very light, soft grit, not slick plastic like cheap, plastic picks, but they are still very reasonably priced.

Comments about Clayton Black Raven Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:

I dig the triangle shape because it gives you a bit more to hang onto and has 3 usable picking surfaces (that are all the same, unlike those stupid dragons heart picks) which, trust me, both features come in handy for intense thrashing sessions. The material is great, feels better than the standard Clayton acetal/polymer picks and the Dunlop Tortex picks. Plus, the expanded surface area provides extra friction. I went with the 1.26mm and I suggest you do too, these have just the right amount of flex (practically none) while still being thin enough to facilitate fast and defined picking. Sound-wise, they're good; I'd describe their tonal character as "beefy".

Finally, they're big phat black triangles with sweet ravens emblazoned on them. They look awesome and you'll look awesome thrashing with one, and let's be honest with ourselves, guitar players love to look awesome.

I used Ultex picks forever but the thickest avaiable is 1.0mm and they wear a lot. I was constantly trimming them with a knife. These picks are thicker and perfect for acoustic/bluegrass. So far they are more durable and wear resitant. They have a louder and brighter tone quality. The only thing I don't like are the corners. The point is slighty more agressive than I like. But like the title says, "new favorite pick".

Feel similar to the white Clayton triangle picks, but last way longer. Plus they look sharp as all get out. If you're a triangle pick user, give these a shot.

After trying dozens of picks, these are my absolute favorite. They feel so good in your hand, and the grip is better than most picks, so it doesn't slip when you get going and start to sweat.

I also love the Clayton Acetals, but these just seem to grip a little bit better.

Every since I started playing guitar, I've had a fascination with guitar picks. I'd buy them for the color, design, shape and material. But of all the picks I've used, this is my favorite for the acoustic guitar.
The pick feels comfortable (but then again I like a larger surface area). It doesn't feel slick, which is helpful when I sweat. But as my guitar is bright sounding, this pick is quiet against the strings and tone is softer than lets say an ultem pick. I like to switch between picking and strumming, so the .63mm guage is good for that. I've tried the .80mm, which I like for picking control, but is a little heavy for strumming.
And the bonus is that with the triangle pick, it lasts 3 times longer and when one point dulls, I have 2 more.

I"m sure the 80's are as good for a lead player as the 63's are good for me. Clayton really needs to do something about color coding these picks.
My friend who plays lead, liked the 80's a lot, even though he usually uses 1.0 Dunlops.
