Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
They propel even my bass notes over the mix.
Iuse a 1.07 pick and love that they are stiff and really give my acoustic some strong bass.
I can't wear these things out
they're cheap enough consider that the only reason to reorder is when I lose one
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
These things are increadible! I use these picks for my Mandolin and they do it complete justice. They have an odd texture at first, and I prefer the shape of the fender triangle picks, but the amount of time I've been using one side of these picks, with no sign of wear what-so-ever, i had gone through all 3 sides of 2 of the fender picks. These only took a couple hours to get used to and offer the best grip and tone from a smooth surfaced pick that i have come across yet.
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
I'm a 55 year old guitarist, been playing for 45 of them. Play pretty much anything, electric and acoustic. I'm a guitar geek, for sure, and play a lot of acoustic, flatpicking fiddle tunes and other bluegrass. play Collings acoustic guitars exclusively, and for the past 16 years my go-to flattop has been a D2H Brazilian/Adirondack, and I had always used real T-shell (I know, but I got about 50 "chips" 25 years ago in Japan, and, well, the tone is the crap. So, I meet Steve Clayton at a NAMM show in Anaheim 8 or 9 years ago, we exchanged phone numbers and I grabbed a few samples. In the interst of not putting y'all to sleep, myself included, I fell in love with the 1.07 and the 1.20 rounded triangle pics, and call Steve and he lets me buy a gross of each. They are by far the best sounding pick I have EVER played next to T-shell, and I have recently bought a half-dozen Red Bear picks...which are everything the folks say they are, but at 35.00 bucks a pop, well, you do the math. Ultem's rock, I use them for electric rock, blues, pop, you name it, I play bass with them, I flatpick with 'em and even use them on 'high-strung' or Nashville tuning. NO CONTEST, for any other manufacturer.
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
I love the ultem picks! I've also used the acetal (previously my main go-to) and the black raven picks. I'd like to mention that after comparing all three in a close side-by-side, I found each one to have a very distinct dynamic and feel. I got the thicknesses as close as I could (the ultem is .72mm, the acetal .63mm, and the black raven also .62mm) Strangely, the ultem pick has the lightest and most intimate sound to it while the black raven has the beefiest sound and feel. I've been used to the acetal pick which is still very awesome, holding a sound in between the two for a good middle ground, so when I tried the ultem, I thought the sound was too thin and frail. I grew to love the sound however as it brings out all the subtle nuances of my acoustic guitar playing into pristine clarity. The ultem is VERY well suited for the player who likes playing soft, pretty acoustic music. If you want heavy strumming and more volume and midrange power, you'll need the acetal or maybe even the black raven if you're into acoustic metal or something like that.
Well... there aren't any features besides the pick itself, but I love the pick!
I've been heavily using the first pick out of my dozen pack since before Christmas, and it holds up very well.
Hey the price is right if you want some awesome guitar picks!
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
Kudos for a SUPERIOR product....Going to order more shortly... Given most of my supply away so others don't have to wait as long as I to find them!! PICK ON!
Playing for 30+ years...used everthing on the market at least 3 times. These have superior movement, grippage, attack. Tried these 1 time, and never looked back. It was like finding the missing piece to a puzzle. Same for acoustic or electric, SUPERIOR!!!
Been using these for 1 year and haven't broken a pick or a string!
I know I have been using 1 pick 6 mo....still GREAT!
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
Been playing for 44 years and these are the best picks I've ever used...excellent response on the strings and a tone that is easily 99% of that of a real tortoise-shell pick (and no dead sea turtles are involved!).Started using these picks a few years ago and will continue using them until either they become extinct or I do!
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
I can't seem to rave enough about Ultem made picks. I have other reviews posted about various other picks that I've used in the past, but in most if not all of those reviews, I could not honestly give a "5.0 Best" review across the board. Ultem picks are the exception and these Clayton's are a 5.0 "Best" hands down. I also gave a similar review with the Dunlop Ultex Sharps, which I've been using mostly as of late. The Ultex or Ultem material in my opinion is the only pick that gives more volume to one's picking technique and for me, Ultem is more durable than any synthetic pick material on the market today. These tri-tip Clayton's are especially good for bass and acoustic guitars. The only other pick material out there that even comes close to the sound of Ultem is Lexan, which is what the Dunlop Stubby's are made of. I should have a review posted about the Stubby's soon. Bottom-Line, if you're a working musician on a tight budget and you're looking for a great sounding, durable, yet affordable pick, then the Clayton Ultem or Dunlop Ultex picks are your best bet.
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
Ultem is the brightest and longest lasting material out there. It flicks the string so fast that it feels lighter in the hand, though I doubt the weight of the pick matters much. I can file a tip sharp and it is so durable that it will keep the sharp tip as it wears down! However, I have bought 3 sets of different Ultem picks, and none of the 36 picks were perfectly flat, so I can't give 5 stars across the board. Each edge has a slight random warp, so the tips are either twisted or bent. If this is an issue, the Dunlop Ultex picks are always perfectly flat. I order the gages that Dunlop doesn't have, like the 1.20 or .45. Finally, a fat jazz pick that isn't too tiny! I have a bunch of celluloid and delrin picks that I never touch any more because I like Ultem that much.
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
I use the 94mm exclusively. they feel and sound amazing.they stick to your fingers and hardly ever slip. glad i finally found a pick that stand up to hours of abuse and never fail.
Comments about Clayton Ultem Rounded Triangle Guitar Picks:
These are the best picks in the world!!!I use the 1.07 and .94 to play bass with and the sound is unbeatable! The shape is in my opinion is made for bassists but if you like a big pick the love of your life is staring at you now!if you dont like the size get the smaller oval shaped ones, but dont let this up. these picks never chip crack break or snap strings unless your useing a 1.20mm for a hard song on guitar, or you beating the !&%#$ out of the axe your playing! The price is amazing for the quality (trust me i know a thing or two about triangular picks)get these picks!I <3 Ultemthankyou clayton!
