I just got this today. My only concern when ordering it was whether my Paul Reed Smith SE would fit or not. To my amazement, it fit perfectly! It is a nice case and more cooler looking than I thought it would be. I really like the design and the interior. I can't wait to get the looks when I walk into my church for praise team practice with it, Rock on!

I always wanted a Coffin Case, I had recently purchased a Tantrum Skull Case by Coffin Case from MF, and was impressed with the quality, look and fit. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the actual Coffin Case and was very dissapointed.

By comparison the Tantrum case is by far a better built product, it has a padded handle, a tough durable covering, sturdy hardware, a decent sized storage bin, and overall a much better fit for my guitar.

The G-185, has a cheap hard plastic handle, a much lower quality of hardware, the covering seems less durable and poorly executed(bad seems etc.)and it's universal design makes for a less than optimum fit for some guitars.

Coffin states that this case is excellent for Gibson angled body guitars and it really appears that this is what it is designed for with the pillow thrown in to fit non-angled body types.

I purchased the G-185 for my Jackson Dinky which is by no means a large guitar, it seemed to fit great until I attempted to close the case, the lip on the lid at the headstock end would not even close over the edge of the case for the latch to line up and I had to force it to closed.

Applying that kind of pressure to a guitar neck at the point that the headstock is attached can't be good.

I suppose after some time when the padding wears down it would fit better, but this poor fit along with the cheaper hardware was a deal breaker for me, this is one of several reviews noting this fit problem, I returned mine in exchange for a Jackson hardshell ABS case that is form fitted for Dinkys and Soloists for the same price, I have several guitars Jackson, Dean, B.C. Rich, with fitted cases and it is the only way to go.

If you really want the ghoulish look that comes with the Coffin Brand cases I would recommend the Tantrum Skull case made by Coffin Case, while it is not shaped like a coffin, it still has that evil look with a black satin diamond stitched interior.

Sweet case

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

When the case showed up, I was afraid that it was a little too small for the ESP LTD Viper-300FM that I had bought it for. I opened up the case and went to put the guitar in it, to check the fit, and was pleasantly surprised! It's a very nice, snug fit. The inside padding is nice and thick, which makes it a little tighter of a fit at first - though, I'm sure that it'll compress somewhat with time. Using the "pillow", the body sits just high enough that you have to push down on the lid a little - but, again, that's because of the amount of padding inside the lid. I already had one coffin case, for my Flying V, so I knew the quality. But this one seems even better, if that's possible!
After unsnapping the FIVE latches that hold the case securely closed, you discover a rich, red velvet-like (and exceptionally well padded) interior. There's a pillow to help properly align your guitar while it is at rest, and the storage compartment provides ample space for your basic accessories (strap, cable, picks, etc.)
I can only hope that when I'm buried, my coffin is as plush as this case!
Great price for what is apparently a very well built case.

Very Pleased With This Case

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

I recently received my G-185 Coffin Guitar Case and am very pleased with it. The quality is excellent, except for a slight odor when the case is opened, which is not as strong now after letting the case air out.. This case snugly holds my Fender MIA Standard Stratocaster and Warmoth Strat with Explorer style neck, and the storage compartment is large enough to hold my accessories. I've had people tell me the case looks goulish and creepy, but that just adds to the 'cool factor.'

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

I bought the coffin case for my b.c. rich warlock and another for my les paul. I love it. It has awesome style and keeps your guitar safe. I've invested a lot of money in my guitars and the coffin case keeps them safe and scratchless. They don't move either. I don't get the best of cash trust me I've been working to get my music successful. Im only 15 but ive been playing since I was 7. I know what I'm talking about. The point being to keep your guitar safe get this and not some crappy one.

Very Nice Case!

By TylerfromTheKicks

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

I bought this case for my Epiphone SG and it is perfect. It keeps it nice and snug. The compartment has a lot of room for picks, tuner's, cables, etc. Also, the case has a beautiful Wine Red inside that complements the guitar a lot. It looks like a Vampire coffin, and that turned me off at first but, when I saw my guitar in it, I was stoked. Overall great guitar, great price. It fits Both my SG and my Les Paul so it's definitely worth the money.

My SG doesn't fit!

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

I got this product and gave it a solid look over before I put my Gibson SG61 in it. Good craftmanship, very steardy, but, my Guitar did not fit. I have to kinda wedge it into place and it makes it hard to close the latch. I was very disapointed that there was no note anywhere saying it wouldn't fit this body style.

IT'S A KILLER !

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

No complaints with this case. It's built solid and has a decent weight to it. It closes fine , no issues what so ever. Use the piilow to even out the horizontal plane of the Guitar. My lefty Strat and lefty Danelectro fit snug as a bug. No glue smell as some others have eluded to. Nice size storage compartment. The Coffin look with the red interior is a head turner , very cool , and the design affords it to take up less space then a traditional rectangular case , a plus when loading up the Moonrock Mobile for a road trip. Very very cool guitar case !

Comments about Coffin Case G-185 Universal Electric Guitar Case:

The case itself came in and I was thrilled with the quality, build, and storage space in the compartment. But it was just way too small to be classified as a "universal fit" case. I have a Dean Custom 350 Floyd and it very tight on the bottom and just just too short so the headstock won't fit. If your guitar fits you will get a well built and stylish case that would be great for anything other than airline travel.
