Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

These strings have a beautiful fullness, but they have a bright "edge" that gives them superb definition. They have enough roundwound brightness but with great warmth. The lower and middle mid range response is extremely strong. Due to a hand injury, I only tap and pull off with my fretting hand so the smooth flatwound is kind of a necessity.
These are, by far, the best bass strings I've ever tried. (...and I've tried a few....)

Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

Put these on my acoustic bass I just requiered (didn't like the rough feel, squeaky fretting, and black fingers from the original bronze strings). I love these string awesome tone, and they feel super smooth. I have other flats on both a fretted and fretless p-basses (more expensive brands) that don't feel or sound this good. I think the custom chrome's will be my go to string. Don't know how long they will last, but other bass playing friends of mine (professional musicians) have had chrome's last years (5 years +).

Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

I've always used flat wound strings on my basses, always liked the mellow tone. It seems the manufacturers are making the strings brighter these days. Love the feel, quality and tension. I'm sure they will mellow out in time. Just brighter than expected.

Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

I particularly like the 40-100 Chromes flatwounds because the tension is more balanced across the strings than a 45-100 set. This even-balance makes the string sets more like TI, but at half the price. I use them on all my basses.

Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

I am a begginer at the bass, but I do have a strong background in music. I love the sound of these strings, and the feel is smooth and clean. I am find that I am able to practice significantly longer with these strings than I can with the round wound stings that came with my bass.

I was a user of rounds all my life until two years ago when I strung the PBass with a set of these. Great sounding for any style of music.

This string set has a light G string, which avoids the "twangy" sound that you sometimes get with a G string. I think the set sounds similar the Tomastic flat wounds, but a a lower price. I use them on Precision and Jazz basses and they help me get an old school sound.

                    Bright Flats

Comments about D'Addario ECB84 Chromes Flat Wound Custom Light Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

These do have some texture to them not quite smooth as ice but on the upside they are bright...well for flats. Good solid tone and growl lower action with the flats and a bit more tension from a thinner string so quite responsive if you hve moved from the custom light roundwound. Not a slaper but does give a kind of thud that sticks if you slap could be a sound kind of like a percussive finger attack not bad. Well try to find them cheap and givem a try. Less fret ware lower action growl and low end warm thud brighter than any flats I have heard for good mids. For me a winner
