The tension required raised the tremolo bridge way too high so I had to add two more springs to the three it came with already. The extra time and expense are definitely worth the investment!

    Disappointed

    By Lrc645

Comments about D'Addario ECG26 Chromes Medium Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

The gauge of the strings are too thick for my schecter c1+. It doesn't set in the notches of my bridge or head of the neck. They just lay on it.

Smooth as silk! Nice to the "over 60" fingers. Beautiful tone. I like it!
Packaging lowers price, I am sure. Took me a moment to get a clear picture of string gauge from the little sealed plastic bag containing the strings.
    But great stings!

Fantastic warm tone, perfect for jazz but also sounds great with deep distortion.

    String life is basically forever.
I play mostly jazz, these are all I play anymore. Prefer tehm to pricier 'boutique' brand strings, regardless of cost.

Comments about D'Addario ECG26 Chromes Medium Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

For gawd sake DON'T put a set of these 13-56 babies on and tune to EADGBE (E-E)on a Strat scale if you're setup for 9s. You could break the friggin' neck!

Myself I settled on these for C-C tuning because the music store in town didn't stock any 16-65 sets of twangers for low tuning.

As smooth 'n' easy on the fingers as any string out there. And quiet as all get-out! Friggin' expensive at the retail store before tax, and I can believe it 'cause of the glassy smooth buff job D'Addario obviously put on these.

But don't EVEN think about tuning to E-E and thinking you can crank back down 1 or 6 semitones if you want-- nope they're finished, end of experiment.

And another thing is I don't think these babies were meant for banging on hard. "Flat-Wounds" are a different deal ya'll. It really is a flat spiraling ribbon inside these babies. And my attempt at setting up a Strat scale guitar and stringing these to E-E was a total bust, as that just stretches out and ruins the internal integrity of these things and then they turn into useless gyrating rubber bands.

But for a different mellow tone on your 24.75 scale guitar, or 2-4 semitone low tuning on Strats I'd give these a shot. But remember that once you take these strings up they won't go back down, so be careful in tuning.

          Good for certain use

          By Rickles

Comments about D'Addario ECG26 Chromes Medium Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

My strats sounds harsh with my current amp. (A Solid state 30 watt practice box) so switching to flatwounds really helped my tone. (You should know-)I have been going for a bigger rock/metal sound lately. I loved the .11 gauge chromes but I though I'd try .13s for a change. Big mistake. With my current setup, I couldn't even get to my usual tuning D standard. My strat is now in baritone B tuning which is cool and useful, but not so great considering that this is my only guitar. I love the chromes, but 13 gauge is too much for me. Baritone tuning may be useful sometime though, So I doubt this will be the last time I purchase these. Last note, the chromes are kind of pricey for strings.

If you play electric slide guitar or deep bass lines or if you are just concerned whether or not your fingers will last during a long gig, you need to try these strings. These babies are smooth as silk !!!

          Detuners Try Them!!!

Comments about D'Addario ECG26 Chromes Medium Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

I'm not one to actually stop and write reviews. These are good enough for an exception.I'm into playing metal with a D tuned and a drop C tuned guitars. These strings sound so good you will think you got a new amp. No fret rattle at all and the strings feel like E tuned guitar strings. With the flat wound sliding in and out of notes, sounds studio quality every time. Best yet... pick grinds work and are actually smoother and more consistent! These strings are a god sent for the perfectionist detuned lead metal guitarist. Definitely NOT for the hairspray rock band guitarists!!! These babies have too much rage and soul for you guys.
