Comments about EHR340 Half Round Light Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

    They seem to be fine.
I use these when I want a guitar to sound 'sweeter'. The wrapped strings tend to be mildly muted and the plain strings tend to ring out more.

Comments about D'Addario EHR340 Half Round Light Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been using these half rounds for a couple years now. Love the feel and tone. Not dull as you might fear. In fact, I recently had to put on a set of regular round wound D'addarios in an emergency, and the tone of them sounded almost like fret buzz to me! I easily get 4 or 5 gigs out of half rounds, and can sometimes even stretch it out a little more before changing. Wish they dropped the price by a buck, but I doubt that'll happen. Oh BTW, one set last year came through with some corrosion on the 10 and 13, but the manufacturer quickly replaced them. Aside from that, absolutely no worries or concerns.

Comments about D'Addario EHR340 Half Round Light Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

These half-round strings lack the "zippy" noise you get with traditional wound strings, without the sacrifice of tone that goes with flat-wounds. I also like the heavier gauge on the bottom strings. They seem to hold a tone longer than the lighter gauge, and the light gauge on the top strings allow for effortless string-bending.

Just trying them out, great tone, not as smooth as true flat-wound strings. I'll probably buy them again when these wear out. Durability unknown at this point.

        Not Worth It

        By Christopher-MFxR6

Comments about D'Addario EHR340 Half Round Light Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought these strings a couple of months ago to compare them to D'Addario's EXL140s (light tops, heavy bottoms). They don't compare. I actually found these strings to be a serious decrease in quality compared to the EXL140s. They do not resonate as long and their texture allows them to collect dirt and oil from your fingers much faster than a typical string. It eventually got to the point where the high E string would produce a surprisingly loud and obnoxious feedback squeal when I simply graced my fingers over it without pressing it in on a fret. I won't buy these again.

Comments about D'Addario EHR340 Half Round Light Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings:

Twenty years ago, transitioning from Accoustic to Electric, the biggest annoyance was the noise of moving my fingers. Flat-wraps were dead. I was stuck. Then about 15 years ago I found the half-round. All the sound and none of the noise! They have just as much sustain as normal strings. They are all that I will use on my Ibanez Artstar semi-hollowbody. The heavy bottom makes for a rich jazz sound when clean, and a LOT of bottom when running through the distortion. The light top then gives all the screamy-bendy leads I can want. Sweet, sweet strings.
