I didn't see a single review from anyone who had actually PLAYED with these strings. Here are my suggestions - STOP CALLING THEM BRIGHT! The are warm, full, gooey, whatever... but not bright! These are the ultimate strings for delicate picking styles. I purchased a set, liked them, and then didn't play my guitar for 6 months (long story). Opened the case, tuned them up - they still sound incredible. PLEASE QUIT SOAKING YOUR STRINGS IN GLUE!! Any good medium gauge will last a long time and have tone 10x that of a light string with "coating." FYI - the set tension on these is about 185 so you might be pushing it on some guitars I have them on a martin dcx1E and i've had to shave down the saddle about an 1/8" to get the action back to "normal." With that much tension, I'd love to go lower but it will involve shaving the saddle and I don't do that! Thus, I will probably switch back to lights at 165 lbs for a while. Since I play many styles its hard to find the perfect string, but on a properly set up guitar you will NOT be disappointed with these... or the markley or the martin version. 80/20 mediums without goo on them are excellent strings and can will make any guitar that is set up for them siiiinnngg for a good, long while.

I have been using the Phosphor Bronze Mediums on my 1957 Gibson J-45 and like them a lot. On a whim I thought I would try the 80/20s. I guess they might be ok if you have a really dark sounding guitar, otherwise I really dislike a bright, brassy, wirey tone like these strings have. I'm going back to my old reliable nicely balanced, warm Phosphor Bronze strings.

Comments about D'Addario EJ12 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Bought these after the strings that came on my acoustic broke. Wasn't sure what I was looking for so I rolled the dice on these. Boy am I glad I did. Not only do they sound great, but they seem very durable. I would 100% recommend these strings.

Comments about D'Addario EJ12 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

The D'Addario 80/20 series of acoustic strings is what I use-exclusively! The tone is brighter than any phosphate bronze, and these seem to last longer too! I have tried almost every string made, over the years, and find that these not only seem to last as long as most "coated" strings-but I like the tone better!!!

          These are great strings.

When I got my order it had the wrong strings. I called and they promtly sent me out the correct strings at no cost. It was a 5 minute process. This type of customer service is hard to find. I was thrilled and will shop and recommend Musicians Friend big time. Thanks

awesome string, i recommend buying a set to check out...that's what i did, and i think this is my new string. thanks for the free shipping too
bottom line...Great sounding string for the price. warm, bright, and soft. real nice feel
usually use Dadarrio ej16 or martin sp's, these strings are nicer right out of the package. they don't have that twang but have the brightness of a new string. real nice.
love the sound and the price
again, love the sound and the price

Comments about D'Addario EJ12 80/20 Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These 80/20 D'addario strings have a tone that is so bright that you might never want to get enough of it. If you are a hard strumming pick player like I am, and yet you want a very bright tone, that is where these strings come in.

These EJ12's are proving a great change for my '49 Gibson Southerner Jumbo, with or without an amp, in our acoustic folk rock trio. Great tonal contrast with my bandmates' Taylor and Martin.
