Extended life and crystal clarity.

Gauges: 12-16-24-32-42-53.

They sound awful to me, but that's an opinion I guess.... however, I vastly prefer the 80/20's, which are more natural, mellow, and seem to go better with the sound of the plain steel strings.
I compared these stings to the 80/20 Bronze D'Addarios that I usually use, by taking an A string and placing it on my guitar in the 6th position, next to an 80/20 Bronze A string of exactly the same gauge. I then picked each string in different ways and noted the results. I would describe the 80/20 as soft and mellow compared to the phosphor bronze. The PB had a very harsh metallic sound to it that I found distinctly unpleasant. My guitar is a grand concert (folk) size Sunlite, with mahogany body and solid spruce top. I used nylon, celluloid and Ultem picks, and the results were pretty much the same in each case. I really dislike the sound of PB... oh, by the way, the PB flat-tops sound the same as the round-wounds, they just slide quieter and cost twice as much. The other string I tested that gave a more sharp but not unpleasant or metallic sound was the D'Addario Silk and Steels... but they do cost twice as much as the 80/20's or the PB's, and they only make one guage of each string, sold in a set.
As usual, D'Addarios are very well made and accurately sized strings.
Like the 80/20 Bronze strings, these are a low price a set and therefore a great deal.

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

Strings don't last forever on a guitar. That being said, these strings are the best quality for any dollar and are great from the get-go! They are crisp and bright and last a long while. I do love the sound of a new strings and I am not afraid to change them. Great strings -over 30 years of playing!

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I've been using D'Addario Light Acoustics since the mid 1980s, and they're great. Crisp, clean sound; long-lasting; almost never break. I recently discovered they're what Paul Simon uses, too.

Good for one day

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

Besides the fact that I got a bad set, I know these strings are amazing and this rusty set isn't going to stop me from buying more. They sound amazing and hold their sound for a long time when taken care of.
I gave these a two only because today as I took my guitar out of its case, I noticed the B and high E strings already rusting. I restrung TWO days ago, and have only touched the strings at that time, wiping them down right before putting my guitar back in its case. I'm sure this is just a rare occurance since the original strings on my guitar were the same as these and still sounded great with no rust for 7 months.
After I finished restringing and tuning, they sounded amazing. But now it's quite obvious that there's something wrong with those strings. Killed my experience.
This is only based on the orginal strings that were on my guitar.
I left them on for two months and tried out some Ernie Ball strings, but after a month I just didn't like it, so i changed back to the same set of D'Addarios. That was back in March and it is nnow late August and they just barely started to sound a bit dead. these stringds are amazing when you don't get a bad set.

I won't buy anything else. Awesome tone, bright and balanced. I buy the light gauge phosphor broze. Light guage EJ16 strings=less stress on the neck, fast and smoother playing

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I didn't like the sound of the strings that came with my Yamaha FS720 and replaced them with these. They have a very nice mellow sound. I wanted to use the medium strings, but my instructor was afraid that they might be too much fr this light guitar.

I keep changing these sooner than I like, maybe next time I'll try the exp coated ones same brand same gauge they say they improved them. Don't get me wrong with a fresh set these sound great maybe I need to wipe them down more after use.

I have used these for years and love them, they are well priced and last just as long as Elixers that advertise long life. They sound great and feel wonderful.

Comments about D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

These are great strings in my opinion, second to Martin MSP4100's. I've used them periodically for years on the rare occasions that I've played acoustic. I'm getting more into acoustic again now and prefer Martin SP's, but if there were no SP's these would be my next choice.
