The medium acoustic strings add more volume and enhanced tone to my acoustic guitar. They are consistent from package to package, and from years of playing them have only had two instances of the high e string breaking at the ball end during initial tuning.
Like the package says, warm, bright and balanced tone. The medium gauge definitely add an acoustic boost to my guitar, although they are just a bit more difficult to finger, and do cause my acoutic to "belly" below the bridge after prolonged use, so I switch back to "lights" occasionally.
I've found D'Addario strings to be consistent in tone, quality package after package.
    Good bang for the buck.

I've played D'Addario's since 1981 and have always been pleased, however lately, not so much. Previously playing light rock, folk, and finger style, they've always been reliable, but now having ventured into bluegrass with a much more aggressive attack, they will last for one 3 hour gig. More than that and they're dead and they'll break. Sometimes at the saddle, sometimes at the fret, other times at the tuner post if changing pitch too much. I will continue to use them until I find a suitable replacement because I don't want to fuss with the guitar's setup right now.

Comments about D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Acoustic Strings (3-Pack):

I've been trying different strings for over 40 years. From Black Diamond singles to high-priced Elixers, all strings offer different advantages. For the money, the D'Addario EJ17s are the best-sounding, brightest, long-lasting, and consistent strings I have ever used. After trying almost every string along the way, I have settled on the EJ17s as my choice of string for my Collings, Martin, and Alvarez guitars. When my students ask which is the best guitar, I always suggest D'Addario EJ17s for larger body guitars and EJ16s (lights) for smaller bodies.

Comments about D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Acoustic Strings (3-Pack):

I've used the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze medium strings for five years, and they are great in all ways - excellent sound in small groups, concerts, or loud jams, and last a reliably long time. If you play long and hard every week, though, you'll have to change 'em a lot more often, but that would go for any guitar strings. I change mine every 4-6 weeks and that's the extreme limit. I tried the light gauge but they're a little too bright for our kind of stringband music where you need more punch.

Comments about D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Acoustic Strings (3-Pack):

I used to think the only people who used medium guage strings were bluegrass flatpickers. Boy was I ever wrong. I put them on, gave the neck a little tweak and my Yamaha A3R lit up. These strings gave me a whole new guitar. I play fingerstyle and these are perfect. Plus, they didn't feel any heavier than the 12's I'd had on before. Expect me to buy a lot more, as these are perfect for my guitar.

These are strings that are worthy of the novice, student with an entry level acoustic guitar. For them, they sound wonderful.

Comments about D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Acoustic Strings (3-Pack):

I have played acoustic guitar for 49 years. These strings have provided the best volume, tone, consistency & wear for the price of any other strings I have used. It's a waste of money, in my opinion, to experiment with anything else.

Comments about D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Acoustic Strings (3-Pack):

When I only had one guitar my strings of choice were Medium Elixir PB Nanowebs, but now that I have multiple guitars I can't justify spending nearly the same amount of money on a single pack of strings when I can get three pair of D'addario EJ17s for around the same price. These strings get the job done, and while they don't last nearly as long as Elixir do, and sound completely different, I kind of like them. They're much more mellow sounding.
