The best!

Comments about D'Addario EJ38 12-String Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

The best
I have used D'Addario since day one (24 years) and their strings are second to none. You can spend more if you like but unless you have very specific criteria the benefits are only psychological. Who is going to argue with everyone from Joe Satriani to Lou Reed to Sharon Isbin?

D'Addario Phosphor Bronze is my absolute favorite for acoustics, the EJ38 light set is the ideal tradeoff between heavy gauge sustain & volume, and lighter gauge tension & feel, for me and my Takamine G series 12. I could sit here using a lot of adjectives and big words to describe how luscious they sound, feel, and respond but you really must try out a set on your favorite instrument to appreciate them. I keep them squeaky clean and they last a long time, but it is always special experience every time I string up with a new set. Anyone that plays a 12 knows what I'm talking about.

I never give anything a 10 rating because perfection is theoretical and impossible, but I will always have that extra notch if something comes along one day that warrants it. Rock on!

Comments about D'Addario EJ38 12-String Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I do love the sound of these strings as well as the price, but the Elixers last alot longer, up to 6months or more when gigged twice a week. I just changed my Elixer's after 4 months to ej38's cause they were my back up. I could of waited too. As I said I love the sound of the ej38's, you just have to change strings more often than Elixer's. If you dont mind changing strings every month then go for it, its worth the sound. If not, buy Elixers!

1 little problem

Comments about D'Addario EJ38 12-String Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

No problems except for the string breaking. Then again, 12-strings are a total pain.
they seem to be on par with the rest of D'Addario strings. I'm not sure how many features a set of strings can have.
I use the Phosphor-Bronze strings with great results on the rest of my acoustics, so I figured that I would try them on my dad's 12-string. The only problem we had was with the 4th string (D). The higher octave string (single-strand, not the wound one) broke while tuning. I suppose this is to be expected when tuning a string that high, but we weren't even tuning the guitar to standard; it was tuned down an entire step to D.

The gauge of this particular string was 0.008", so you would think that it would easily have been able to withstand being tuned to a high C. We ended up having to replace it with a 0.011" high E string from another set.

I have been changing strings for a long time, and it was pretty evident that the string was going to break once I got it tensioned up and close to a C. Once I got around a B it started stretching badly and actually going down in pitch when I attempted to bring it up.

D'Addario EJ38's are the Right Strings

Comments about D'Addario EJ38 12-String Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Takamine puts EJ 38's on their new 12-string guitars, and that's good enough for me. The Tak's are great and the strings last a long time without constant tuning. I wish they were sold in value packs like the 6-string packs are.
The EJ 38's have a low amount of packaging, and are color coded.
The EJ 38 strings last a long time and still sound good. I'm not constantly tuning, either.
Keep your coated strings. Not worth the price. I think that D'Addario's EJ 38's are a good balance between price and durability.

Comments about D'Addario EJ38 12-String Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Playing 12 string instruments since 1974. Tried MANY brands and gauges. Nothing matches these strings for playability, tone and durability. I beat the snot out of my strings (bluegrass) and although I need to keep a few high G strings in backup, These stand up very well to all the torture I put them through. We live at 6000 feet, and I rarely have to retune when going to the flatlands.
