It's taken a little while for them to settle in but I'm very pleased with the sound. Still too early to tell how long they will last.

People really seem to rave about these strings. I have used these on 2 occasions. On the most recent, I did a comparison starting with the Diaddario EJ46 set and then switching back to the Savarez 500CJ set that I usually prefer (both unplugged and plugged into a PA and my amp).

For about a week I played each on my Cordoba GK Studio Negra. After a week, the EJ46 set (G string in particular) fizzled out and lost volume and tone. Especially plugged in, they sounded worse by the day. The Diaddario EJ46 set did not feel as good, last as long, or sound anywhere near as good as the Savarez 500CJs did. The responsiveness, volume, longevity, clarity, feel, and tone of the Savarez 500 CJs is superior to me.

I will say the Diaddarios are priced right and have a passable, mellow tone for a week or two maybe. I will gladly pay twice as much for the Savarez 500CJs from now on. For reference, I play fairly aggressively with a pick, and play a mix of lead and strumming in an acoustic/piano duo.

      good strings

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

The silver basses sound excellent, much better than the old bronzes that came with my guitar (a Manuel Rodriguez). The wound strings have a beautifully smooth tone, with a good amount of metallic punch. This is balanced relatively well by the characteristically soft timbre that the thread inside produces. The clear nylons sound excellent as well, and the high tension makes them clearer (medium tension before, I believe). The silver looks amazing too. Great strings.

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

These strings are for my son's classical guitar. He is a student, but I am a professional bowed string instrument player. These strings replaced Augustine Regals, Red, which had a lovely tone but were quieter and had rather loud shifting/sliding noise. The D'addario Pro Artes have a bigger, more direct tone, if perhaps not quite as pretty. The bigger strings have a smoother winding, so shifting is quieter. As some other reviewers have noted, the G is a bit quieter than the other strings; somewhat mismatched.

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

I play a Taylor 714ce-N and Taylor recommends EJ46FF strings. I found no tonal, playing, or endurance difference when comparing them to the EJ46 strings. Of course, my opinion is subjective and you should judge the difference yourself. The EJ46 strings, however, are high quality and my guitar sounds wonderful. Bottom line, the EJ46 strings are good enough for the guy that owns my guitar.

Comments about D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

These strings are so widely recommended, and i fail to see why.
On the plus side, the basses settled in quickly, and have good tone, and will probably get better as it gets played, and becomes less "brassy" in tone.

The solo strings are so soft as to be useless as a performance set, at any level.
                  Tone is good on 1st E and 3rd G ( surprise )...2nd B is quite second-rate.
                  Overall, the tone isn't bad.
Volume produced, however, is dismal, even against cheap no-name Chinese stuff. What went wrong?

Savarez ( any tension ) and Augustine are just way better...except the 3rd G on the D'Addario's have better tone than most.
As a set, only useful for stringing guitars for sale...or maybe not, since the instrument suffers because of it..a gift set for beginners, maybe.
In a mixed set, one might use the basses, and different trebles.

There is only one problem and as I have never used any other strings I don't know if it happens to others. If the weather pressure changes I have had a string break. This happened once with a D string and once with an E string. Can't say whether it was a Low Pressure area or a High Pressure?
