Great Tone, No Finger Squeak!

By Paul Clark

from Seattle area

Comments about D'Addario EJ51 Pro-Arte Semi Polished Basses Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

The biggest problem playing an amplified nylon guitar is that the finger squeaks created when you move your fingers up and down the string are high-pitched and deafening. Normally the solution is an EQ cut, which invariably deadens the bright crisp tone a nylon ought to have - so many amplified or recorded nylon string guitars sound dull. These strings are the solution - the polished bass strings compeltely eliminate the squeak, so your tone can remain bright and clear. Beyond this they are excellent, top-quality strings. Definitely worth the price! I play these and nothing else now. I only wish local shops would carry them! (fwiw - I play jazz in a duo on several nylon guitars by Alvarez, Takamine, and Yamaha with built-in piezo pickups and onboard preamps, through Vox and Fender tube amps at low to medium stage volumes)

Comments about D'Addario EJ51 Pro-Arte Semi Polished Basses Hard Tension Classical Guitar Strings:

I usually use Super Hard classical strings on both my much older Ibanez laminant GA6CE and my solid rosewood sides and back, solid cedar-topped Alvarez MC90. Obviously, the Alvarez is much more expensive. Amazingly, changing to these strings made my Ibanez sound ALMOST as sweet as the incredible MC90.
