Classic electric guitar string tone dates back to the 1950s, when pure nickel was the primary alloy used. As the need for brighter tone and higher magnetic guitar strings grew in the '60s, nickel-plated steel became the industry standard. D'Addario XL strings feature nickel-plated steel, but these EPN115 XL Pure Nickel strings offer a warmer, vintage tone alternative which many enthusiasts prefer.

Comments about D'Addario EPN115 Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Blues/Jazz Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought these for a guitar that was too bright. I was using nickel wound Ernie ball 10's. I may go back to 10's for bending, but will stick with the pure nickel. There is a noticeable difference in the tone. I also believe the G string of the D'Addario's is of better quality.

Comments about D'Addario EPN115 Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Blues/Jazz Electric Guitar Strings:

I started using these pure nickel strings about 4 months ago as an alternative to flat wounds. I just never liked the feel of flat wounds.

These strings will provide a nice, round, warm, liquid tone that's perfect for either Jazz or Blues.

        A great string.

        Nice strings!

Comments about D'Addario EPN115 Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Blues/Jazz Electric Guitar Strings:

        See above.
I have one of the nicer Ibanez artcore archtops, and I've been playing the D'Addario Chromes in a 12 gauge, which are awesome, but I wanted to go for a bluesier sound and a more acrobatic feel. These are a fantastic compromise. I still get a warm, full sound, but with a sharper edge. I can also bend these just fine. The strings also seem to accentuate the acoustic properties of the archtop.
