I usually break these things like crazy which is why I don't usually them, but today I was recording a solo and the G broke when I did a 1/4 bend. The strings are only about 3 weeks old. I'll never buy D'Addarios again. Don't waste your time, GHS strings are more expensive but they sound better, play faster, and last as long as you want them to. However, I did give these strings a 9 in value because since they're so cheap, you can at least *afford* to break them all the time.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

I have been using these strings for more than 10 years now and they have never let me down. I can count on one hand the number of strings I have broken in that time. These string take whatever you can dish out and deliver rock solid performance. Try a set and you will never go back to your old strings. Keep up the good work D'Darrio !!!!

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

i have tried every other brand there is. i decided on using ernie ball coated strings. i loved how bright they sounded, but they didnt last very long for coated strings. and 10 bucks a set didnt help either. i was reluctant to try these again because i didnt like them in the past, but as soon as i put them on my guitar, i noticed an immediate difference. they were smooth feeling, and while not as bright as the ernie balls, they sounded much better. harmonics came out so much easier. and for some reason they last longer than the coated strings! finally, they are much more affordable. thats why i wont use anything other than these strings from now on.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

This is my second review for these strings. I'm writing it because for the heck of it I bought some Ernie Balls. I used to use them only but back in the late 80's or early 90's it seemed like they changed. They would always break before they would go flat. I put a set on one of my guitars (10's by the way) and before they were broken in I broke the E string. Then I remembered why I stopped buying them. I tried all types of strings until one day I found D'Addario strings. I used 9's back then. I use D'Addario 10's now. I have all my guitars set up for them. They will go flat before they break. I play very hard and anything not of good quality will break on me. I promise you that if you try these strings you will not be disappointed in them. I've been playing a long time so, trust me guys. I will not use any other string except this specific D'Addario string.
Best wishes,
Keep picking,
Chris.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

I was noodling around one day and broke a string. I went into my gig bag only to discover I was out. I ran down to my neighborhood music store to but one set. They wanted three times what I usually pay. Outrageous! I swore I'd never pay that again. Musician's Friend, same strings, 10 sets per box including shipping, was way less per set. Don't pay music store prices. Even if they give you half off, it's still too much.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

I've played d'Addario electric and acoustic strings for decades as a performer. These 10's have worked flawlessly for me in all situations. They have great tone, they last me for months. When I am performing, the LAST thing I want to worry about is my strings. I know these will hold up and perform for me. I HIGHLY recommend d'Addario strings on all of your acoustic or electric instruments. May I clear something up. I have NEVER broken a guitar string while playing a guitar. I have been playing/performing since 1959. If your strings are breaking, it is not due to d'Addario, it is that you play hard, they become corroded or your guitar needs a qualified tech to set it up correctly (specifically the nut and/or the bridge area). Blaming broken strings on d'Addario is silly. To be fair, I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's on my son's American Deluxe Strat and I like those very much too. For my ES-335 Dot Fat Neck, it's d'Addario EXL110 XL's every time.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

These strings are a good fit for all my guitars. They bend easily and provide smooth action, tone, response and overall playability. I prefer to stock them for myself in separate sets because I change them all at once. The used strings are useful too for many projects, specially the unwound G string, it works great in cheese cutters.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-Pack:

Im one of the guys who rusts through strings fairly rapidly, especially with certain brands of strings (Fenders in about 30 mins turn black while i play them). Ive experimented with alot of strings and now im settled on these babies because for the price and quality u cant beat it. For a while i used elixers which are nice and never rust but they sound too dark because of the coating to cut through in a solo setting. While D'addarios may not last as long as elixers, they are as bright as i need, and cost less than half the price. Ive also found that if you wipe down the strings after playing every time they last a fair ammount as well. Try em out they are a great middleground to cover whatever you'll need. Plus u can get players points! :D lol peace

As a long time GHS Boomer user, I broke down and tried these out and the quality is good but they don't last as long as boomers or Gibson Brite Wires. The sound is weaker in my opinion and not as brite on my Gibson les Paul. Story goes, you get what you pay for. Not bad strings but not the best around for the $$. Going back to GHS Boomers.

I have used these strings for over 30 years and it's the only string I use. When I first started playing, I tried Ernie Ball, Fender Bullets, D'Addario, and others and always came back to these. They're tough (I haven't broken a string in well over a year, and I play in a Rock power trio), they sound great and last a long time. I use them on all my electrics (Gibson and Fender).

I don't see me switching strings anytime soon. I would buy a single set first and see if you like them.
Strings either give you the sount you want or they don't. These D'Addario strings have a clarity and a bright tone that I like, and the price can't be beat.
I have never had one break. 'Nuff said.
Again, when bought in the ten pack, the price is outstanding.

A good string choice for electric guitars where a lighter gauge would not produce a full body tone. They hold up very well and stay in tune as well as any strings I've used.

Probably function exactly as guitar strings should, but thinking of replacing just one broken string? Think again! Guess I missed that part of the description that mentions strings not being individually wrapped. If you always change all your strings at the same time, get yerself some nice cheap strings. But if you ever change one string at a time, consider yourself warned. These are pretty useless to me. Booooooo!

Living in a resort town I play a lot of outdoor gigs. The salt air and humidity are murder on strings. No matter what kind you use they go dead pretty quick, so I usually just get the cheapest thing I can find and change them all the time. They all sound good when they're brand new. The D'addarios had a good tone, they stayed in tune quite well, and they lasted a little longer than some other brands. Overall I was satisfied with them, but as I said before, I just get the cheapest thing I can find and they don't always fit that description.

I have been using the EXL-114 for a LONG LONG time and have been very happy with them. I purchased a new guitar (American Fender Strat Deluxe) for a new project and don't drop D tune that often, so no real need for top 10s heavy bottom strings. Just using regular 10s now for this guitar. After trying A LOT of different strings, the D'Addario EXL's are my favorite. Everyone's hands/fingers are different so just because they work for me doesn't mean they work for everyone, but I'd definitely recommend giving them a try! I rarely have breaking issues, and when I do it's on a guitar with a trem and usually due to that.
