I used to use these on an Ibanez S370 electric that I sold a few years ago. Well a couple years ago I bought a brand new Ibanez RG3EXFM1 which I loved as soon as I first played it, and now it's like an old friend. These D'Addario's came stock on it and I've always been impressed by the tone and feel of them.

I'm mostly a rhythm guitarist and I play a lot of punk rock and metal, but there are some lead parts that I've written and learned, and I don't play only fast stuff.

When I broke the high E string and I didn't have a new set of strings for my RG I was basically lost. Yes I have other guitars but you know how it is with your favorite instrument. I very rarely break a string but I own 3 electric guitars and it looks like I really need to keep more extra sets around. I do have to admit that those strings on my RG were very old, they lasted way longer than any strings could be expected to. So I came here and bought a couple sets of these. I just got them today and restrung my RG, and I could not be happier! Just the tone and feel I love! These strings really seem perfect to me, always performing beyond my expectations.

Also I recently bought a used Ibanez RGR, which was the electric I used while my favored RG was out of commission. Anyway the guy I bought the RGR from had put on a different brand of strings right before I bought it. I don't know if I'm allowed to say what they are but they are very popular strings and are among the top rated. Anyway these D'Addario's sound WAY better. I find that sliding between power chords sounds much better with these strings than with the others. The other strings really failed to impress me, so I will shortly be putting D'Addario's on the RGR.

These D'Addario's are what I have always bought, and now it looks like they're what I always will buy!

As always, thank you Musician's Friend! And thank you for the amazing strings D'Addario!

I used these strings back in the 80's and they were great. Today they still seem like great strings but their a bit firm. More so than Fender strings. More like a Gibson string. I don't use these strings to much because alternate picking is really really difficult with these strings. I tried and tried but I can't alternate pick to well with these strings.

I was trying different brands to see what i like the best and after using about five different brands these have to be the worst! Stick with Ernie Ball and save yourself time because these wore so quickly it wasnt even worth the money or the time to put them on. DO NOT BUY!

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

For years I've used Ernie Ball strings, and had them start tarnishing and losing their spank in about two weeks time. Recently I had some work done on a guitar, and my luthier put on some D'Addarios, man what a difference! Tone is a clearer (though a little less crunchy/gutsy) but these strings last considerably longer under my fingers. Ernie won't be seeing any more of my cash any time soon.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

Avoids excessive sensitivity to pick attack and inadvertently bending strings out of tune when playing demanding chord forms, unlike extra light strings, but still easy enough to play and bend for soloing.

Good, uniform pickup response. Probably best for solid body guitars.

D'Addario strings can be relied upon to perform consistently from set to set. I feel confident that after trying this one set, I can order a larger quantity for a better price without unpleasant surprises.

              XL's = the best.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

In 40 years as a professional musician, playing primarily guitar, I have tried everything on my electric guitars, and I always come back to D'addario XL's. Not only do they feel lighter than the gauge installed, they are more consistent, intonate better, ring out clearer and cleaner, and last a long time (with my body chemistry... YMMV). As for claims that they "break easy," that's simply not true... if XL's break frequently for you, there's a problem with your guitar causing it. I've used these strings almost exclusively throughout my career, and they don't break for me, ever. From the manufacture to the packaging (fresh as new a year from purchase!), XL's rock. You can count on them set after set.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

The sound quality is actually decent I must admit. However they will not last and I don't play very either as I usually play bluesy stuff. Despite their decent sound, I'd rather not have to change at least one string every practice (broke 2 back to back at a gig last weekend and they were only a week and a half old). I would say their only real place is as a backup string for a gig if you break one, nothing more.
I usually use DR strings but the local store has been out of them for a while, purchased these instead, long story short I've already broken 5 of these strings in about half the time it takes me to break one DR.
Only thing about these is they are about as cheap as it gets, but then again the DRs I usually use arent much more. But, still they're cheap.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I play back-up guitar in a garage band, and I can't have strings break up on me during a performance. These work on both my telecaster and stratocaster, and they do NOT trade sound for durability. These are my strings of choice.

I've been using these strings for 30 years and they sound great new, and they don't easily break -- like some other brands I've tried. Very consistent quality! Use them on all my electrics.
