I have a Les Paul and a Strat. These guitars are like night and day when it comes to sound and feel. When it comes to sound each is unique which is why we all like them. But they have a different feel when the same string gauge is put on each guitar and that is due to their scale lengths. A Les Paul is 24 3/4" scale and a Strat is 25 1/2. When you put 10's on a Strat they feel tighter then on a Les Paul. I found it frustratingly difficult to go from one to the next. I looked into it and calculated the string tension of different gauge sets for both guitars and found that putting the D'addario EXL120+ (9.5's) on my Strat that the string tension closely matched that of 10's on the Les Paul. When I tested this out on the guitars I was amazed at how much alike the two guitars felt. String bends were more accurate and playing more rewarding. If anyone has a preference of one guitar to another because of how the strings feel, I recommend trying different size sets to match the tension that that does feel good in your hands. More guitars will feel better and that only means...now you can have a bigger arsenal of guitars. We all like having more guitars!!!!

I've had these strings on my Telecaster for 5 days and they already show significant signs of wear. They actually showed some in the two spots I played most (I was working on a particular solo at the time) after less than 24 hours. Brand new, the tone was OK and the feel was about average, but after less than a week they look like some strings do after months. I may have gotten a dud, but as for the set I got, they were just plain awful.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings work great for both standard and E flat. I consider it a little loose for D tuning. I haven't had any string breakage since I got these, although it was rare even with the regular EXL120's. I've completely switched to these strings for all my standard tuned guitars, it's good stuff.

EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I think if you are wanting a set of strings that play as easy as 9's but with better tone......Give these a try.
I have quite a few guitars some with 9's and some with10's. I really like the ease of play with the 9's but like the nicer tone I get with the 10's. I was looking around and ran across a set of these and decided to give them a try. I installed them on one of my Fender Strat's and loved them. After a few minutes of playing them I knew this was the set of strings for me. They are easy on the fingers when I play and can play just as long with these as I can with the s without my fingers starting to get sore and I have a better tone.
No issues so far
These are a great value just wish they were available in the 10 pack so I could save a little money.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Thanks D'addario.
As I get older I am starting to experience some of the ole Arthritis and carpal issues. I used to really rely on the EXL110s for tone and longevity factors. But, I decided to try these to see if they helped me be able to play longer without getting the hand pain and numbness that after 40 years has set in at times. These were a noticable improvement in flexability and bend great like a "Slinky" yet still maintain those beautiful crystal musical tones that Danos are famous for. Not quite as full in warmth as the EXL110s but very close and the trade off with their flexability and ease of playing are a great compromise for me. These have added hours to my ability to play without hand pain setting in so far.
Great strings-stretch great and return in tune after settled in.
Good price compared to other brands, but I would like to see them in 3 and 10 pack availibilty. I have them on several guitars that need to be changed regularly.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

They are light enough to give a bright sound, bendability is very good. I have these strings on my Strat, my Les Paul and my Epiphone Dot 335 and they work great on all.

These strings ROCK!

By Michelle-.fMa3

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These are by far the coolest strings D'Addario makes! Better tone on the top end with the added weight (yet not enough for it to feel too heavy). The lows are awesome - serious crunch and boom with clarity. I won't use anything else. I change strings after every two-night gig. These strings are pricey, but worth it. I just wish they came in a 10-pack at a lower cost.

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

If 9's feel to "floppy" and 10's too tight; the 9.5s are the ticket. I have them on 3 of my guitars. I glad this size is even available.
6 color coded ball ended silky feeling strings with a tension that is very comfortable
The quality for D'addario strings are top notch.
The value of these 9.5s are pretty good I suppose. They are not even heard of by many guitarist!

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

The 9.5 gauge works very well for my application...my band tunes down 1/2 step to save wear and tear on the vocals but 9's get too slinky...with the 9.5's I still have something to dig into and when I tune standard to learn songs or play in another band, I don't get fatigued....I'm old so I don't have anything to prove as far as string gauge goes ; )

Comments about D'Addario EXL120+ Nickel Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I've gone through many phases during my 30 years of guitar playing but I always seem to go back to D'Addario strings. They are inexpensive, they are consistently high quality, they sound great for a long time, and the selection of types/gauges is pretty impressive.

The EXL120+ is the perfect set for Fender scale length guitars. On my Stratocaster, the .09 set feels like rubber bands and can sometimes sound a little weak; the .10s sound great but the tension really wears on my hands and wrists during extended playing. With the 120+ set, I get great tone and just the right amount of resistance and feedback during bends without fatiguing my hands and arms. I really feel like they give you the best of both worlds and are an excellent compromise for those who want the tone of heavier strings and the ease of playing found with lighter sets.

I will continue to use EXL110 sets on my Gibson scale length guitars but these 120+ strings will be the only strings you find on the rest. Thanks, D'Addario!

Love these strings. They fill the gap between 9's and 10's. Easier to bend than 10's and more tone than 9's. Wish they came in a 3-pack.
