I was surprised to see DÁddario still made strings this gauge. Macho guitarists might laugh at strings this skinny, but Hendrix and Page both used 8s as soon as they became available in the late 60s (Hendrix) and early 70s (Page). Great for deep bends, obviously, easy on the fingers, and plenty meaty sounding if you're pumping a double-stack. I prefer 9 hybrids (heavy bottom) but for oldschoolers these are great. Not for jazz ;)

Uh-oh. Be extremely careful!

These extra super light gauge D'addario strings may be great for bending, but they are bound to break even more easily than regular super light gauge strings. Take care!!

I bought these for my tele, and i bend and detune like crazy with them. I must have gotten a good set or something, because even with tuning between dadgad, open g, open d, drop d, and standard, and even after all the soloing I do, these babies are still intact. I do probably need a new set, but these suckers last! Get 'em!

Comments about D'Addario EXL130 Nickel Extra Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are my favorite because they sound good and they're easy to play. You can grab a chord easily and you don't have to cut your finger to do a whole step bend. They have good tone and intonation also. The nickel plated steel are by far my favorite for their feel and tone. They're super light but not slinky. They allow you to play more sensitively and relaxed. I play rock and jazz you don't need heavy strings to get jazz tone. I think it's more about your touch than the gauge of the strings. Definitely give them a try, I think the nickel wound D'addarios are the best brand. And if you like light strings these are great.

Comments about D'Addario EXL130 Nickel Extra Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I put these on my Ibanez hollow-body with floating bridge (not good) and it didn't have enough tension/pressure to hold down the bridge. So I just had them as backups for shows and whatnot, but then, I played my acoustic and noticed it needed new strings. So I put these on and it just sings now! It sounds way better than it did ever with Elixir's on it! I LOVE THESE STRINGS!!!!

Comments about D'Addario EXL130 Nickel Extra Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I needed to find the lightest string for a problematic acoustic. They sound great with a magnetic PUP, and surprisingly sound pretty good unplugged. I can't imagine them lasting long, especially if one plays hard. I will be using this guitar for light work, jazz and blues but lifespan should be ok, not long. For those who change strings often and do a lot of bending, they are really fun to play. The vibrato is very pronounced. Nice tone with good overtones and bright. I won't get the 8's again or the 81/2 but because of their sound will try the 9's next.

I have not used these as of this review request from MF but, when I do I'll post another review. The only reason I rated these high was just because I always use D'Addario strings and, I can't imagine that these will disappoint me.

Comments about D'Addario EXL130 Nickel Extra Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Easiest bending is the top advantage of these extra-light strings for me, but that makes the .008 high E easily breakable. I remember buying a backup pack of five .010 in the past, but I found no such thing for .008's. I checked only four stars for that unavailability, the strings would deserve a five.

Comments about D'Addario EXL130 Nickel Extra Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I've used D'Addario strings for years... decades even. I used to use .009's, but in the last couple of years switched to .008's. I do a lot of bending in my playing and as BB King once said, "Why you wanna' work so hard?" Everything is easier and smoother and they are a joy to play. Obviously, they wouldn't be suited to all types of music and/or playing, but with my style being metal'ish (heavy distortion) and a light fretting style (I prefer scalloped necks) they are perfect for me. As far as D'Addario's quality, they are the best I've used. They stay in tune well, last a long time and don't break easily. I've used some sets of EB Slinky's and they break much more easily. These are great strings and the price is fantastic too. I'll use no other.
