These string were freaking awesome on an ibanez sr506, really brings the bass to life. Very clear highs andbanging lows.

Comments about D'Addario EXL165-6 XL 6-String Bass Soft/Regular String Set:

These are good strings for the money. I typically use the Warwick Black Label, but for the price I figured I would give these strings a try. They retain sound well and for a good amount of time. I find them to be bright in sound for nickel strings. There is one major issue with these strings though. i currently use a Warwick Corvette 6 string bass and the .135 string will not fit on the saddle for the string on the bridge. The bass of the strings where they have been wound is to large and will not set into the saddle. I like the strings, especially for the money, however, when only 5 of the 6 strings can be used, it greatly diminishes the value of the strings.

Comments about D'Addario EXL165-6 XL 6-String Bass Soft/Regular String Set:

OK so I had to shorten the headline to make it fit... oh well. Been playing bass since the late 60s and these strings have the best tone I've found so far, even in the low B string. it's strong, and doesn't sound like an old de-tuned E string flopping around like some other strings I've tried. these strings have a strong fundamental, good balance, and are rich in harmonics so you have full command over your sound with your tone controls. the low B and E are triple wound, so they are especially harmonic-rich. superb sound, I just bought 2 extra sets since they were on sale :)
I haven't had them very long, so I can't comment on how long they will last... but I do not expect to be disappointed. I recently spoke with a fellow bass player who used to work for the company, and he has only good things to say about them.

          Good strings.

Comments about D'Addario EXL165-6 XL 6-String Bass Soft/Regular String Set:

I like these strings; they sound good, bright, but not overly so. They wear well, and retain their sound for a long time. I like the sound of nickel/steel strings, but most that I've tried lose their brightness pretty quickly. Stainless lasts longer, but the sound isn't to my taste.
