Standard D'Addario Quality

Comments about D'Addario EXL230 Heavy Long Bass Strings:

I had the factory strings on my custom P-Bass for about a year, and being my first bass, I hadn't bought bass strings before (only acoustic guitar strings so far), and these were my first bass string purchase.I needed a super heavy gauge to fix my bowing issue, and it did such perfectly. I like the sound, and feeling of higher gauge strings. They have a lot of bass, good treble (not enough to sound tinny, and harsh), and great sustain. They didn't have that older, "dead" sound that my year old strings had (that I loved), and sadly for me, but probably happily for you, a month or two later, they still don't sound dead at all, and probably won't go dead anytime soon.Bass strings are seldom cheap, and these are no huge exception, but they are some of the better value strings I've seen.Overall: pretty clean, standard, but not generic sound; nice feel; long life; good value. I would strongly recommend them if someone wants, or need higher gauge strings, and like the D'Addario sound.
