Crisp, brilliant tone plus extended life!

Gauges: 12-16-24-32-42-53.

D'Addario EXP11 Coated guitar strings provide longer life and increased durability coupled with the brightness, clarity and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario acoustic guitar strings. An ultrafine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound. And since the EXP coating is cross-linked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional guitar strings.

D'Addario is the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments. Many top guitarists won't play any other brand. Regardless of your playing style, D'Addario has a set that's right for you.

I started out on Martin Acoustic SP, and switched to GHS XL 11-50 S315. Both sets had a great sound but I wasn't quite satisfied. The Martins didn't feel quite right. They felt a little light. On the other hand, the GHS XLs, had a great sound, I loved the feel, and the price was less than the EXP11. Again, I wasn't quite satisfied with the sound, they were still a little light. When I tried the EXP11, they made my guitars feel great and gave me a rich, clean, and warm sound that I was looking for. I have been using D'Addario's EXL110 for my PRS 513, PRS Hollow2, Carvin SH575, Gibsons, Stratacaster, and Squires all my musical career. Keep up the good work.Thank you.
I have been using EXP11 for over 4 years. They sound great on my Seagull S6, Ibanez IJV50, Yahmaha, and Mitchell MD-100CE.
I installed the new strings, and they give me the sound that I am looking for. It is clear clean warm sound that is not weak and not to dark. I love the feel of them. I have no complaints on the sound of the strings when I move. I have been playing for 39 years.
I tried 1 set. I loved the sound and purchased a 10pk to save money. However, a 10pk cost $109.99 and a single set cost $9.99. Maybe the saving is in the shipping? I have tried other strings of EXP11 quality and paid 2-3 dollars more. In this case, you get a great set of strings for a reasonable cost.

The E/A wound strings lacked the new string brilliance of the upper D/A strings. Set lost its tone & volume after 19 hours of play & lingered in a semi-dull state for the next 15-20 hours. The wound A string had a rough section of wrap near the 5th fret creating string noise & an obstruction to smooth playbility. Tried a second set after 40 hours. Same results. Extended Playing Time does not refer to quality playing time but rather how long these strings will last before finally going dead. Figure on about 12-15 hours of quality playing time. After that, the strings sound dull but not dead for the next 20+ hours.

    Best Sounding Coated String

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

They sound the closest to uncoated strings as I have been able to find(i.e. less like your playing underwater or with a sock over them). The major downside is that they are also the least smooth and produce the loudest string noise on slides. If D'Addario finds a way to make them smoother they will be my first choice.

        My No1 Acoustic Strings

        By Von

        from Nashville

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are my all-around 1st choice acoustic strings. The coating feels natural, the tone is bright yet balanced, and they have a better than average useful lifespan.

Every bit as good as Elixirs

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Just installed my second set of these and I can discern no difference between these and the Elixir Polyweb 80/20's. They last just as long, maybe longer, and seem to be easier on the fingers. I do wish they would coat the high B and E Strings as well, but nobody else seems to do that either except for Dr. Strings, and those sound like crap and do not stay in tune.

        WOW! I'm blown away!

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I can't believe the changes these strings have made to my guitars. I have a top-of-the-line Tacoma JR55 jumbo, and a Larrivee D03R... both solid rosewood back and sides, with quality spruce tops. Both are very highly rated. I was trying to sell the Tacoma, because I could never get the ideal tone out of it. Being rosewood and jumbo, it was too dark. I had always used phosphor bronze strings, as that is the "industry standard." I went from the EXP phosphor bronze to these EXP 11 80/20 bronze, and somehow it "dialed in" the sound. Now it is awesome. Inspired by that, I just put these strings also onto my Larrivee. Wow again! Even my wife, who had hearing difficulty, commented on how great it sounds. Incidentally the sound of the Tacoma is now so good, it was amazingly close to the sound of a top-of-the-line Martin dreadnaught I checked out yesterday. Note: The salesman in the store said that these are ideal strings for a rosewood instrument, but the phosphor bronze EXP light gauge will be the string of choice if one has a mahogany instrument. I recommend you check these out. I am sorry I didn't find them 20 years ago.

        Expensive and squeaky

        By Badtux-QwGHT

        from San Francisco

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

They sound pretty good for a coated string, and presumably last a long time. But the winding is very coarse and chunky and feels rough to your fingers compared to e.g. uncoated EJ16's of the same gauge, perhaps because of the coating getting in the way, and these strings are *extremely* noisy to do any kind of slide work with or to do moving bar chords with. Combined with the expense, I am not going to buy these again, there simply has to be something that both lasts a long time and doesn't feel/sound so rough when moving around on the fretboard.

MADE ME SWICH AFTER 20 YEARS!

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I can not begin to tell you how good these strings are. I used the same brand for almost 20 years. I tried ALOT of others but always went back to the same ones. I purchased a new Alvarez masterworks recently and these came on it. I AM AMAZED! They really do sound like a non-coated string and they do not "flake up" or "fuzz" nowhere nearly as bad as Elixers. After being so satisfied, I bought the phospher bronze version for my rosewood Martin. LOVE THESE STRINGS!

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These came on my Breedlove and I loved them so much I've bought them ever since. The have a lot of definition in the higher strings with out too much coming from the middle tones. Not very heavy on the low end, which is nice for rythm...but if you're into a lot of finger picking I'd go for something with more overall balance.

        Perfect for acoustics

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about D'Addario EXP11 Coated 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These were perfect for my ibanez AEL20E acoustic electric. They are softer that you think and give great bends if you ask me. The price is quite right and its really worth the money. They've lasted me a long time and I play the guitar quite very much often. In the amp they sound very clean and have a nice acoustic tone. My recommendation.. buy them!
