Comments about D'Addario J73 Phosphor Bronze Light Mandolin Strings:

My wife and I love these on our mandolins. We buy these in bulk and change them about every two months. Lately the loops on the two upper (pitch) sets of strings are breaking when I restring and tune up. Sometimes they are broken right out of the package. At other times they break at the loops before I even tune them up anywhere near their proper tension. It seems to be a problem in their manufacturing process when they twist the string loops they must be getting crimped too much. Anyway, we are, sadly, going to have to switch to another brand.

Nice gauge, not too thin or heavy. Holds tune well, with bright ringing tone. Stays in tune with vigorous strumming.

Comments about D'Addario J73 Phosphor Bronze Light Mandolin Strings:

My wife and I tried all the other brands of mandolin strings and these are the best overall. I bought my wife (and I) a Gretch New Yorker mandy with money I won from a music video contest. The E string broke right away. We bought the only mandy strings our local shop had. They were pretty dull sounding. I bought a set of all the other brands of mandy strings available (not very many really) online. We tried them all. The D'Adderio J73s were our favorite on the New Yorker. The Gretch new Yorker is a lower end mandy, but it has glorious tone and playability. These strings really do it justice! You can hear them on my song "Lady Liberty" (radio version). www.reverbnation.com/kevinscotthughes

I replaced a set of Elixirs with these strings and they are much better in sound.
