I play Guitar and Mandolin family instruments. For Acoustic guitar I use D'Addario EXP17 exclusively. They are hands down the best acoustic string strings on the planet. 5 times better than the EJ17 set. When it comes to the mandolin family, I use D'Addario for sound and feel alone. But they tarnish a little too quickly for me. So I tried an Elixr set and they lasted so much longer, but didn't have as good a tone as D'Addario. So I beg you D'Addario... Please make all you mando family strings with the EXP coating. I'll pay $20+ dollars for a set if it means I don't have to go through the tedious task of changing strings as often. I own a lot of instruments.

Unfortunatly there are not a lot of strings to choose from for octave mandolins. On the plus side, who could ask for better strings then D'Addario strings. The last set of strings has last for well over a year and is just now beginning to sound a little dead. My only gripe at all is that I wish these strings were available in a few more gauges and options. In my opinion if you need good strings for an octave mandolin, you will not be disappointed with these.
