All the features of the NS Mini, and more, but in an even smaller size.

The NS Micro offers improved accuracy, faster response, expanded calibration range, visual metronome mode and an improved ratchet design. A highly sensitive piezo transducer and easy-to-read multi-color backlit display allow smooth and highly accurate tuning in noisy, dim or well-lit environments while the micro design and reversible screen allow the tuner to hide effortlessly behind or mount on the front side of the headstock allowing the tuner to remain clamped to the instrument inside most cases when stored. A 360-degree swivel mechanism and adjustable padded clamp offer optimal viewing angles and maximum positioning flexibility. As a result, the NS Micro is equally at home on left- and right-handed instruments as well as on small and large headstocks, making it an ideal choice for the widest variety of players and instruments. The NS Micro is powered by a readily available CR2032 battery (included) and provides maximum battery life utilizing an auto-off function, shutting the tuner off automatically after several minutes from power up.

I ordered some more PlanetWaves headstock tuners and these came instead---they're apparently newer/updated models. Still compact, unobtrusive and accurate. The compact design might limit visibility with some placements but it surely contributes to keeping the unit out of harm's way and accidental damage. Small enough to leave on you axe when you put it to bed in its case. They work just as well as the original version with theses added/updated features: (1) Metronome (visual) function, (2)Display "flip" function (useful!), and (3) an easier to use clamp/clip. The battery compartment is, however, more difficult to open than the original version---you may need a pair of needle-nose pliers to apply the proper amount of squeeze and pull to release the battery holder. The good news is that I've been using my original ones daily, for months, and have yet to replace the battery.

This is the first tuner if this type I've used and it works great in the home or where ever there isn't much ambient noise, but it's definitely not a good stage tuner. It picks up every noise on stage, which makes for a difficult time trying to retune during a performance. I found myself having to wait for a quiet moment then hurriedly tuning whichever string was out. For home use, it works well, just not on stage.

Comments about D'Addario NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

BEST: VERY small; it can be left on the headstock when guitar is in case. Simple controls. Easy to see/read.
NOT best: not as fast or accurate as other tuners I have (both headstock and floor). When on stage, I want a tuner that is INSTANT and very accurate, to keep my tuning pauses as short as possible.

Comments about D'Addario NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

This is a great little tuner, with accent on the *little*. I've seen guitar tuning heads that are bigger. I have two, one for my Vagabond travel guitar, and recently bought a second for my stay-at-home Martin. It's easy to read, and there's a button that flips the display so that you can put it either on top of the headstock, or underneath. It's small enough that I can slip my capo on next to it.

I found this tuner very difficult to see on stage. the clip does not hold onto the instrument very well. I became frustrated trying to use this at shows and moved to the Joyo mini which is much much better and cost one third the price. Sorry Planet Waves - the truth hurts.

This tuner is accurate and can be left on the head of the instrument almost unnoticeable. It's a great product for the guitarist needing a fast and easy way to check tuning quickly during rehearsals or performances.

Comments about D'Addario NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I've been experimenting with different clip-on tuners recently to try and find one that could possibly stand up to full-band rehearsals and live shows. Unfortunately, this one is not it.

Our drummer is particularly loud and this tuner doesn't even pick up notes properly at practice; leaving shows far out of the question.

I think I may just go back to using my BOSS Chromatic Tuner and call it a day. These tuners are great for solo practicing but, aside from that-- pretty useless in my opinion.

Not going to bother returning for how inexpensive it is. Maybe I'll use it for my acoustic.

I was looking for a compact clip-on tuner that would detect 5-string bass notes quickly. I also have an older Snark SN-1 I also like that has a nice display but is slower to detect notes on bass (good on guitar). This NS-micro works as well as advertised!
