Comments about D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Medium Electric Guitar Strings (11-49):

Bought a set, but when i put them on the high e broke due to a factory defect. The product number was on the bag (yes the garbage the strings are wrapped in) so i couldn't get a replacement from the company. Disappointing, but probably a good string.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Medium Electric Guitar Strings (11-49):

I really like these strings a lot. I have only been using Elixir Nanowebs on all of my guitars for years but after trying these I think I am going to use both brands from now on and on different guitars. The Elixirs are all around great strings for everything but these strings have just a little more brightness and pop. Also, these strings stay in tune super well. My Elixirs stay in tune really good too but I only had to tweak these one or two times and they stayed in perfect tune for two hours of straight hard playing brand new out of the package. The 11's on these feel a little big for some reason but nothing you can't adapt to if you have strong fingers. If you have a darker sounding guitar and you want a little more of a throaty sound, get these, they are worth the price!

Comments about D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Medium Electric Guitar Strings (11-49):

I have gone thru several sets of the NYXLs and I can say that they do last longer than the regular D'Addario XL. Now do they last three times as long (seeing that they are nearly three times more expensive) as the regular XLs? No, but what I do like about these is the tone and let's face it in the music business tone is everything. The tone I get from the NYXL is more of a biting midrange with more stable lows. It is like having a heavier set of strings without the stiffness. Sometimes I put upwards of 20 to 30 hours a week on my guitar and these string can take it without suffering a lot of tone loss. They tune up nicely, and after normal break in stretching, they stay in tune very well, and I have yet to break one.

When I picked these up at a local shop, the guy told me they are the same tone as the regular XL's just stronger. I think not, I think they had a brighter tone to them (which I love on my Jag). They did have a different feel to them as well, a good one. They felt stronger, but weren't too stiff. Get them, try them, love them.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Medium Electric Guitar Strings (11-49):

These strings are dead within 2 days of me playing. Basically by the time they are finally stretched into tune they feel corroded. The "crunch" they talk about just means the tone on any clean setting is disgustingly muddy. I'm going home to put back on my elixirs. They're worth the extra any day. They last literally 5 times longer and sound beautifully clear.

If these are any different from standard strings, the difference is small. I didn't notice any increased volume or tuning stability when compared to standard strings and they're more than double the cost of most regular nickelwound sets. In addition to this, they also rust more quickly than nickelwound strings. I put these on my guitar about 2 weeks ago and already the treble strings are starting to rust. I'll be excited when I have standard strings back on my guitar again.

Been using these strings for a few weeks now and find them to perform well and they sound equally as good as EB RPS11's. I don't see or feel any difference between the two as I've switched from RPS11's to these for a trial. If the price was the same I might switch but with no difference between them, I'll choose 2 packs of RPS11's for the price of 1 NYXL and still have a buck left over. I saw the string bending demo from NYXL and was impressed. That is an extreme test. However, I've never broken RPS11's from string bending and never had to retune them after bending either. I just don't see any reason to pay the extra price. The softness or ability to bend either of these types of strings also seems the same to me. 11-48(or 49) is a thick set of strings and as thick a string as I will ever use.

Decided to give these a try even though I had a bad experience with Ernie Ball Cobalts (they turned to straight up rust after one gig). As advertised, they did do a better job of staying in tune from the get go, although I did still have to adjust tuning throughout the show. Used an 11-49 set on my Epiphone Dot, and they didn't feel 'heavier' than a regular set of the same gauge as other users have reported. Had a brighter tone than other strings I normally use (Ernie Ball Slinkys, GHS Boomers, etc.). The real test will come when I play the guitar again after a beer and sweat-soaked weekend of gigs...lol
