OVERVIEW

All the features of the NS Mini, and more, but in an even smaller size.

The NS Micro offers improved accuracy, faster response, expanded calibration range, visual metronome mode and an improved ratchet design. A highly sensitive piezo transducer and easy-to-read multi-color backlit display allow smooth and highly accurate tuning in noisy, dim or well-lit environments while the micro design and reversible screen allow the tuner to hide effortlessly behind or mount on the front side of the headstock allowing the tuner to remain clamped to the instrument inside most cases when stored. A 360-degree swivel mechanism and adjustable padded clamp offer optimal viewing angles and maximum positioning flexibility. As a result, the NS Micro is equally at home on left- and right-handed instruments as well as on small and large headstocks, making it an ideal choice for the widest variety of players and instruments. The NS Micro is powered by a readily available CR2032 battery (included) and provides maximum battery life utilizing an auto-off function, shutting the tuner off automatically after several minutes from power up.

FEATURES
  • Built-in piezo transducer picks up instrument's vibration rather than sound
  • Improved software for faster response and improved accuracy
  • Tri-color reversible backlit LCD screen makes it easy to tune in dark environments while allowing mounting in front or behind headstock
  • Wide calibration range (410Hz to 480Hz) and visual metronome
  • Compact design blends into the aesthetics of instrument while adding considerably less weight than other headstock tuners
  • Tunes acoustic and electric guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos and other stringed instruments

I ordered some more PlanetWaves headstock tuners and these came instead---they're apparently newer/updated models. Still compact, unobtrusive and accurate. The compact design might limit visibility with some placements but it surely contributes to keeping the unit out of harm's way and accidental damage. Small enough to leave on you axe when you put it to bed in its case. They work just as well as the original version with theses added/updated features: (1) Metronome (visual) function, (2)Display "flip" function (useful!), and (3) an easier to use clamp/clip. The battery compartment is, however, more difficult to open than the original version---you may need a pair of needle-nose pliers to apply the proper amount of squeeze and pull to release the battery holder. The good news is that I've been using my original ones daily, for months, and have yet to replace the battery.

This is the first tuner if this type I've used and it works great in the home or where ever there isn't much ambient noise, but it's definitely not a good stage tuner. It picks up every noise on stage, which makes for a difficult time trying to retune during a performance. I found myself having to wait for a quiet moment then hurriedly tuning whichever string was out. For home use, it works well, just not on stage.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I'm a veteran MF customer & never have been this dissapointed in a purchase. I've bought many higher priced tuners from MF and they are all still working. This one never turned on: even with a battery change. You reallly "get what you pay for" as this item looks cheap when you see it. Boxed and returned withing same day. Don't buy this product- spend more for a better quality tuner.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

I owned my NS Micro for a year already and am really impressed with it. 100% Accurate tuning, so it does the job really well. The thing is after almost less than half a year, it started reading each note a half step down (ex: D is C#, G is F#, A is G#) which was confusing at first but took time getting used to.

I really like it, but sadly i won't recommend it.

Very easy to use. Worked on everything from my Tele to my classical. Easy to change to a different tuning and stays at the frequency you set it to even after turning off and back on.

Took this tiny tuner on tour to use on acoustic guitar, away from my pedal board. It responds immediately to all notes - low and high. Display is easy to read and the tuning results are accurate. The ratchet method of attachment works surprisingly well.

Display is too small and dim for low light situation. Not as responsive as other tuners, ie requiring constant plucking of string to get change in readout. Have gone back to my snark after one gig with this tuner.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

The attachment to headstoack was problematic on my Recording King Torch (which has a volute on the upper neck)without restricting use of machine heads.

On myLes Paul, it is not a good fite, either ...If I wanted to stick a tuner on the end of the neck (leading to wear up there over time)I'd just stick with my Snark.

This tuner seems slower to repond to me, and I find the short - + points to be more difficult to center than my Snark.
If it was more expensive, I'd return it, but its not, so I'll pass it along to a fledgling picker.

Perfect clip-on tuner. Accurate, easy to hide, and easy to carry. I alway hated the way clip-on tuners looked, until I stumbled accross this one. It hides behind the headstock, and is very easy to read. It responds quickly, as well. A No-Brainer!

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Micro Headstock Tuner:

This tuner is very nice and it is spot on accurate. It sits nice and tight on the headstock, it picks up sound quickly and accurately, and it is small and out of the way. On the other hand, it might be a little too small. It is lightweight and easy to drop and lose, and it likes to blend in with its surroundings. Also, the tuner will pick up my 5 string bass notes just around standard. As soon as I drop the tuning to even a half step, the tuner gets very jumpy, and is almost impossible to tune without using harmonics (like every other tuner, I was hoping this one would have fixed that problem). This probably isn't a problem for most people, but for those who are like me and play in drop tunings, this is just like any other tuner.
