Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS160 Medium Gauge Long Scale Bass Strings:

I have an Epiphone Thunderbird bass. I read that the PROSTEEL strings had a brighter tone than Nickel plated strings while preserving the bottom and mid. I was disappointed. I could feel the sound, but could not hear the sound. There was very little tone. I tried both pickups at varying levels. It reminds me of removing all the middle with an equalizer. The noise and roughness of the strings prevented playing with touch and harmony during soft song passages. These may be OK for banging with a pick but not playing with touch. I will go back to my Fender 7150 and 7250 strings.

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS160 Medium Gauge Long Scale Bass Strings:

As with others here, I keep coming back to these. I like to try others and many others have their own vibe that is very nice for some applications. These will respond most readily to your fingers. Good vibrato on a fretted instrument. Pluck, roll, feather, move from bottom of the fingerboard to the bridge and these strings will respond. An amazing pallet of tones right from the fingers. They are very "round wound" so some sliding techniques can be a trick. Expect your fingers to have calous like a foot. Great tension and will start and stop on a dime. Wonderfull ringing highs both cutting and sweet. Beautiful harmonics.

        The best at any price.

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS160 Medium Gauge Long Scale Bass Strings:

After trying tons of strings over the years I've come to rely on these as my string of choice. I've tried pretty much everything out there some at twice the cost and these are simply the best. They are bright with great definition with a solid tight low end. They have a nice growl when pushed a bit and an aggressive roar when really being pushed hard. Plus don't just die after one long hard gig. I really couldn't ask for a better string.

        Excellent Strings!

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS160 Medium Gauge Long Scale Bass Strings:

These strings are awesome! The tone is consistant from low to high. The growly piano tone is there and they are a pleasure to play. I am an experienced bass player and I have tried many different brands. I truly feel these are among the best sounding strings I've ever purchased. If you like to rock, buy some!

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS160 Medium Gauge Long Scale Bass Strings:

Over the last few months I had been trying out a lot of different strings on my bass, until I stumbled across these. These strings were great, and complemented the tone of my instrument perfectly (a Mat Tobias). They are punchy and bright, without sacrificing any of the beef and body I need. These have helped me create a wonderful and unique sound that I use in everything from old school jazz to metal.
