Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS165 Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale Bass Strings:

I play in a cover band, and I've used lots of other strings, and I have found that the 'gut-wrenching' sound of these strings really make them cut thru when playing live! My bass is a modified MIM Fender Jazz bass, with Ampeg and SWR equipment. They have a lot of 'thump' to them that I haven't been able to find in other strings. Prosteels are now my 'go-to' strings!

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS165 Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale Bass Strings:

I used these for a while, before I realized that I should experiment with different strings to see what kind of tones I could get. The Ernie Ball Hybrid Steels are a bit more of Mid range than these, I had to EQ my bass equipment less. These strings, however, last for a long time. They feel very much like a steel string, and are a bit tough, but you get used to them. For now, i'm sticking to my Ernie Balls since they are cheaper and I like them better.

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS165 Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale Bass Strings:

I have been playing bass for roughly 18 years. I like to play original hard rock but dabble in just about every genre there is aside from country really. I'm in a band that gigs regularly and records about once every other year and a half or so.

I am always wanting that "zing" in my string, that is the type of tone I love. Think the band Tool or Rage Against The Machine. I have tried many a string in the past from Boomers to EB Hybrids to Fat Beams and so on. I tried Pro Steels for the first time about 3 years ago maybe and have been hooked ever since! I am always disappointed when I try a string and I really like the feel and sound only to find that a few days after I've had them on my bass they are already dead or dying. Now, this is all so relative. Dead to me could be broken in for you or still too bright for others. So this is all of course taken with a grain of salt I hope. But I prefer that zingy, shiny and bright tone of a fresh string. That IS my part of my sound. So to try the Pro Steels and find out that they were just as zingy after 3 weeks of playing as a brand new set of EB Hybrid Slinkies were really opened my ears and eyes. Pro Steels are the longest lasting string I've tried. Hands down.

They feel great too. A little stiff but not too stiff. Good balance, respond well to different tunings and they do stay in tune quite good considering me transporting gear between gig and home and practice. Plus you really can't beat the price of these. They are right in that price point where I can buy a set or two a month and it wont break the bank. I've tried some other stings since I first tried Pro Steels. I like to mix it up at times. But overall, as long as I'm playing hard rock, I'll be using Pro Steels as my main string of choice. By far and away.

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS165 Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale Bass Strings:

For years I tried and used several different brands of strings and was never quite satisfied. When I began using D'Addario Strings I loved the way they felt under my fingers although the pro-steels are little rougher feeling than the nickels, I love the tone they produce on my 1989 Paul Reed Smith bass. I use the nickel version on my 1971 Jazz and my 1973 precision. These strings are always more consistent in quality and performance than any other brand that I have used.

I have owned these strings for about a week now and I have to say these strings are brilliant!! These will take a little while to get used to but after you get used to them they are great. I mean, pickups are magnetic right? Why not get metal strings then! Get these you will not regret it!

Comments about D'Addario ProSteels EPS165 Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale Bass Strings:

I bought these to replace the stock stings on my Ibanez GSR200, and I was literally amazed... it was like I bought a new bass. These strings are great, and I am honestly afraid to try any other strings because I love the sound of these ProSteels so much.
