Many of my guitar students have never felt, let alone played for any period of time on flatwound strings. I have this gauge of D'Addario Chromes on my Ibanez Artcore AFS 75T (Bigsby removed)
My younger students always want to play this instrument now, whenever I bring it in. The sound of these strings is so mellow, folks just love to play on them. More durable than the old-school Gibson strings of the 50s-60s. Intonation is fine, even with the floating bridge. Good product overall.

These string are alright. I put them on, and they are what they say: REALLY mellow tone. I didn't like it, but it was kind of amusing to hear. When I used them through an amp with distortion they sounded alright. And, for a second, I thought I might use them; but they're not good for solos and you can't do pick slides, due to the flat nature of the wound. They do almost totally eliminate the noise from your fingers though. That's pretty cool. Now, I play metal, but I wanted to try them. And I had heard a few people who play metal liking these. And they would work for a few kinds of metal (the styles that are all lows and no solos or leads). They're meant for Jazz anyway. If you play the aformentioned metal styles, then go ahead and try them out. But, most metal people should just not bother.

Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
I've tried all sorts of strings on my Ibanez AS103 semi-acoustic guitar in my search for a jazzy tone with easy playability. I've tried Thomastik, Pyramid, flatwounds, roundwounds, half-rounds etc etc, but I think I have finally found some strings I'll stick with.
The great thing about the chromes is that they have the mellow tone of flatwounds, but they have a "soft" feel. The other brands of flatwounds that I tried e.g. Thomastik, Pyramid felt very "stiff" to play. I just could not get used to the feel of them. I found that the other brands restricted my articulation on the fretboard, but the chromes don't because of the "soft" feel.
Of course it's all down to personal preference, but for me these are great strings.
Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
As I mentioned above, these D'Addario XL Chrome Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwounds are silky smooth strings; great tone and sound; and a great value!
The XL Chrome Jazz Lights ECG24 Flatwounds: I love the sound, the silky smooth feel, no string noise other than the notes and chords you are playing! Using them on my Gretsch G5120, I will continue to use this brand and type of strings! Did I say I love the sound these strings make!
Smooth feel, stays in tune even with a Bigsby!
You can't beat the price!
Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
Great strings with a great price from Musicians Friend. These are the only strings I use on my Byrdland. They give me the jazz tone and playability I look for on a jazzbox. They seem to last longer than other brands.
Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
great strings, just slightly too heavy,
strings.
These are reall nice, but unfortunately I can't find a set of tens.
for the relative pricing they're great
Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
the flatwound really does make the difference for me in my jazz band playing guitar, all the barre chord switches are easier and cleaner with these strings - it really does make a noticable difference for the better (as opposed to my standard strings of the d'addario exl110, which as still terrific - but the ECG24s are deffintely better suited for this job)
Also the strongs have a significantly softer but still powerful tone that goes well with pretty much any kind of music you through at it - all in all, terrific strongs for a person doing a lot of chords and wanting a more sober sound!
Terrific quality as usual from d'addario strings
Cheaper than guitar center...thas all i can say
Comments about D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings ECG24 Flatwound:
I have many guiotars almost all the players about twelve have them, including some that call for acoustic Strings and they even work for that like a Taylor T-5.
Great Strings for Jazz to crossover to rock and great studio Strings as they are silent...no scratch no fret noise. New XL even better asw they wilol make the 9-49/46 guys kinda happy as they are a quiet long lasting string and lighter than the ECG 24s. chromes which waqs the only choice.
They have got to fix the wrap in the ferrel on B and high E. New Strings popped for no reason on nerw set as I was changing over from Lite to XL on a few guitar. Needs to be sold in bulk sets of individual strings.
No issues on Price but noty if B and High E string break on brand new String at ferrell is not fixed.
