Finally, strings that sound good, don't break easily and can handle the low-end tuning's found in the most djenty of metal. The tension feels strong and tight, and drop the strings clearly blast out their tone.

They're packaging is interesting too, and optimized for eco-friendly standards. The strings are all twined together in one ring, found inside a closed plastic bag within the easy-tear open box. The convenient color-coded guide found on the inside of the box came in handy while stringing up my axes.

These are the strings I will use from now on.

I put these strings on my ibanez RG and they have WAY to much tension for drop C, even drop B is a little too much. i normally use the exl117 strings which are Medium Top/Extra-Heavy Bottom and they are the only ones im putting back on it and those ones are perfect for drop C. i only had these heavy strings on for a few days and i just hated them from the start. good quality just to heavy. if you want to play drop A these strings might be ok.

Comments about D'Addario XL148 Nickel-Wound, Drop C Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

My tuff old fingers break the lighter strings. I have broken the 12ga. but that was the first set I used after putting the Sperzal locking machine heads and over tightened the lock knob. They are set up for C but work fine in E flat. I hope they never get discontinued.

I got these a couple weeks ago, and oh. My. God. These string are AWESOME! I've been having trouble finding strings that work for my band, because we play in Drop A, and these definitely do the trick. There's more tension to the strings, they sound awesome, and they feel great. And on top of that, they made it fairly easy to do my Pinch Harmonics. \m/ \m/

Although I use these strings for Drop C they are optimized for C (standard). This set works well for me but string gauge and tuning are a matter of preference. Whoever is reading this and is curious about this product should experiment and choose what works best for them.

Comments about D'Addario XL148 Nickel-Wound, Drop C Tuning Electric Guitar Strings:

i have tried many different types of thick gauged strings. this is the only one that can truly hold up in low tunings. it will probably be the thickest without having to stretch the tuning peg hole.

i tune to drop b and it sounds so much better on a .60 than on anything smaller where you'd be getting some place else. you might not think there's a difference between .56, .54 or .52 but there definitely is.

i've been using d'addario for YEARS. just started using these and i will continue.

These strings are perfect. I play in Drop Bb and they sound heavy and clear. Tuning keeps, clear tone, heavy low end. It says they are for Drop C but they are way too heavy for that...Drop B is tolerable if you have strong hands. Great strings!

Its all about the right scale length, string gauge, and tuning combo my friends. Takes a little experimentation to get it right. These did work ok on my 24.75 scale length LP for drop C, & C#. They get a little stiff with D and standard tuning, and a little sloppy with drop B and so on. My problem was the 20gauge plated 3rd string has a twangy sitar like sound to it that I hate. So now I run exl110-7's and toss the 10 which gives me a wound 26gauge 3rd string with no weird tone. I also run the exl158's for drop A and B tunings. May not be the right set for a 25.5+ scale length tho.
