A 12-pack of vintage tones, punch, and power.

Dean Markley Vintage Electric Guitar Strings are crafted from nickel-plated steel hand-wound slowly over a round core. That means the outer string wrap has 100% contact with the core wire. This allows the string to vibrate completely for maximum sustain, creating a warm, full sound distinctive of classic rock and roll.

Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue medium guitar strings are made to the same exacting specs as the original Vintage Electric strings that won the hearts of players around the world. The combination of outer wrap alloy, special round cores, and core-to-wrap ratios make these strings sing with power and punch. Long life is just a bonus.

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

I'm not sure why Dean Markley strings get tarnished so easily, but it seems like when I open a package I'm always wondering what I'm going to get. Better packaging might be needed. Opening a new pack only to find tarnished metal is not a postive experience. Otherwise, they are good strings at a good price.

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

Tried several brands and combos starting in 1973. When I found these, I was hooked. I like a heavy string and the wound 3rd (G) string. I use hard bends and they just don't break. These strings have so much tone and it gets sweeter the more they are played. Use them on my 76 Tele Custom, 69 Les Paul, BT 3 and my new Dean Tyrant Blood Storm. Highly recommend these strings if you play Hard Rock or Blues.

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

Great strings for the player who finds light strings a little too unforgiving. Allows for a more aggressive playing style. Heavier strings usually equal better, more beefier tone.

            Used to be good

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

I am a long time user of these strings. They made my sound just the way I wanted it and the playability was superb. But now, ever since the past three cases I've purchased, the high E, B, and G strings are being made with bad/cheap wire or something. These strings now have grime spots all up and down the wire right out of the package. It's not Musicians Friends problem; I've bought from other retailers and still had the same problem. Very dissapointed.

1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack

            By Arthur Renkel

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

Something else I really like about these strings is that they come with both a wound and unwound G-string. I use the wound one on the Standard because I tune that to standard guitar tuning, and play a lot of full boogie lines in the base to back up piano or harp, and play some slide in standard. These strings just TALK that stuff....On the Junior I use the unwound G and tune to open-A Spanish for early 50's Muddy and Johnny Shines slide things, and they handle that sweetly in that configuration. I really can't say there is anything I don't like about these strings. They hold up well, they hold their tune, I love the gauges, and the tone is VINTAGE, just as advertised.
I've been using these strings on my Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus and my Epi Les Paul Junior for nearly a year now. They are heavy enough for my style of Mississippi Delta (Muddy Waters, Robert Nighthawk, Robert Lockwood, Jimmy Rogers, Honeyboy Edwards, Homesick James, etc.) electric playing. When I first put them on they sound a little to clean, but in about an afternoon, or night in a juke joint, they develop a lovely ringing vintage sound that is great with the slide and Robert Johnson type moving sevenths.
They last for a long time, and don't seem to corrode in this Mississippi Delta weather as easily as other strings I've tried. And that vintage ring! I'm not real big on string bending as I am playing more like the above mentioned players and these get that 1950's electric big tone. I use a plastic thumbpick and a metal fingerpick almost all the time, and a heavy steel slide: these strings hold up beautifully to it and hold their pitch beautifully.
The price is sure right on these twelve packs at MF!

            Be careful

Comments about Dean Markley 1975 Vintage Reissue Medium Electric Guitar Strings 12-Pack:

I have never had problems with Dean Markleys, but the first set I put on my Gretsch could not hold their tune over a three week period of time. I put D'Addarios on after this which worked fine. I intend to try to use the rest of the strings, since they can't be returned, just to make sure that it wasn't some fluke. I have never had strings that had this much trouble holding their tune.
