I am mostly a bassist. Sometimes I get together to play out on "unplugged" type things with 2 guitarists. One night I got tired of being relegated to just bass and brought along my old Alvarez. I always considered it a beater because it's over 25 years old, it was cheap, and the sound hole is shredding. The guitarists both have high tier Ovations. They weren't even paying attention when I took it from the case. When I first strummed it they both turned to see what I had. Their mouths were hanging open. These strings provide such a smooth and mellow sound. The bass is low and the highs are articulate. They both spent the evening playing my old beater. I have tried Elixirs, Alchemy, Ernie Ball, nothing gives me the mellow yet clear sound that I get from Blue Steel. There may be an issue with how long they last, but I can't judge because my guitar may sit for a few weeks while I'm playing bass. So every couple of weeks I put a new set on.

f you are looking for strings that will stay in tune and last a long time these are for you. But if you are looking for great sounding strings you should look elsewhere. I always used phosphor bronze Martins but I decided to try the Blue Steels based on the reviews. It was not the right decision. These strings sound very weak, they have no presence, and are very jangly. Not horrible but not good either. But they do stay in tune forever. Not enough for me, I am going back to Martins.
Pros: They stay in tune and they last.
Cons: They sound pretty bad
Not good compared to other strings at the same price.

Comments about Dean Markley 2034 Blue Steel Cryogenic Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've used Elixers and I consider them pricey. I've also used DaDario's and they break easily and don't last. These strings are good for about 3 or 4 gigs. I am tough on strings and I like these about the best for acoustic.

    fantastic

Comments about Dean Markley 2034 Blue Steel Cryogenic Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Perfect for the sound I am going for on my Taylor 414ce. Even the stock strings, elixirs, don't sound quite as good to me. Not bad, buy I'd say the blue steels always sound richer. I really go through a lot of strings no matter what brand so I've tried quite a few types and these stand out unless I want a simpler tone (and sometimes I do, for that I've been going for Dunlop's).

Comments about Dean Markley 2034 Blue Steel Cryogenic Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are by far the best strings I have used. They have a crisp rich sound even on my cheap guitars. They last a while too.

Comments about Dean Markley 2034 Blue Steel Cryogenic Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have had the same Blue steel string on my guitar for about 4 years plus, while this is not good, I am happy to say they still sound decent, and not one of them has broken. By far the best strings ever and hard to find in my area.

Great alternative to Elixer's which are way overpriced. I've been using them for years and have used both. They are a great bang for the buck and are comparable

27 year guitarist, I'll tell you that:
        1. Dean Markley is a particular type of sound so if you want that bright (almost Telecaster-ish) sound without sacrificin your bottom end too, this is for you!
