These are the best guitar strings I've ever used! I've tried different brands (from age 15 and I'm 27 now) Ernie Ball, D'Addario, GHS, DR, I've even used off brand guitar strings, and I'm not gonna bash strings, or convince you that "my way is the way" or any of that, but Dean Markley makes the best strings. I was a die hard Ernie Ball Slinky consumer, but something always caught my eye about the Blue Steels, so I decided to give them a try. The first thing off the bat that I noticed was these strings will not show any signs corrosion for a long time, something that the Ernie Ball slinkys didn't do. Dean Markley Blue Steels never broke on me, whereas Ernie Ball and D'Addario have. Hands down I would reccomend anybody from beginner to pro to use these strings. They last a very long time, the tone is good, and you don't have to worry about beating em up, the -320 liquid nitrogen gives these strings extended life and makes them tough. As I'm aware there are also other string companies making their "extended life strings" but we all know who they got their ideas from, so I stick to the original, I use Dean Markley Blue Steel.

Not sure there is another five years with these. Between the plating issue and now the packaging not having good feelings about Dean Markley any more.

I love this strings, but now they come all the 6 strings coiled up in one big mess. You are supposed to identify which is which by 2 different colors at the bottom of the string and by the width of the string. Please save the environment some other way!

Great attack. Very bright. Stretch out and settle quickly. Long lasting.
Have been using these for around 10 years and find them very consistent. I have tried others as they come out, and always go back to these as my standard. Lots of my musician friends like em too.

I have used Blue Steel strings for at least 15 years, I had tried every brand of strings out there and always had problems with them breaking until I discovered Blue Steels, I can't remember ever breaking one of these strings, and I use light guage. I have been a satisfied Blue Steel string user for all these years and will remain so, I definitely recommend them.

I've used many different brands of strings and found the Dean Markley Blue Steel's to be the best for me. I use them on my Fender Strat and they hold tune well. I have not broken any yet either. I would recommend anyone to give them a try. Good value too !

I've been using the XL#2550's on all my guitars since the early 90's I got a sratacoustic and wanted heavier top stings well thease babies are sweet, I'm gona try some on my semi hollow body OE30 next. 99.9% of the people I can get to try Blue steel never goes back to what they used before. they just don't break for me and I bend alot plus I've actualy had some on a guitar over a year and they didn't rust and still had sweet tone. I can remember went if you sweat on a string once they would rust, but not with thease.

For a few years now I've been pretty stuck on Ernie Ball slinkys, but after trying these strings I don't see any reason to go back. Not only do these strings have great punch, but they last a long long time. You get some GREAT attack with these guys. The difference between EB .09's and Blue Steel .09's is instantly noticeable. Buy 'em. Do it.

        Quality Control Problem

Comments about Dean Markley 2554 Blue Steel Custom Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I play a Rickenbacker 330 and these strings sound great on this instrument. I have been using them for close to 9 years now. I want a lively, crisp tone and they do this wonderfully. However, I'm reluctantly having to change to another brand. The problem has been string breakage in the wrappings down around the ball area. Out of the last 22 boxes of strings I've purchased, I have had 5 boxes where a string broke as I was BEGINNING to tune them up. Each time I was amazed at how little tension I had on the strings when they gave way. I've had another 2 boxes where a string broke while playing. I'm not a real agressive player so it only adds to the mystery. Out of those 5 boxes I have broken 2 E's, 2 B's and 1 G string. With the other 2 boxes its been a 1 B and 1 E string. Each time in the wrappings down by the ball. I could understand this happening on a rare occasion but this is just too frequent. The 22 boxes were purchased a couple of boxes at a time over probably 2.5 years from different stores, so it is not a defect in a particular manufacturing run. Occasionally I've used other brands and have not had this happen with ANY of them. Love the tone, but I've lost patience and confidence in the quality of construction.

Comments about Dean Markley 2554 Blue Steel Custom Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These are the best strings ever! They hold a very nice tone and they never seem to wear out. The custom light guage is definately awesome for hard rock/metal players. You get the high light guage strings for those crazy solos, but you still get slightly heavier low strings for drop tuning and heavy playing. These are great strings!! and they come with a sticker!!

Comments about Dean Markley 2554 Blue Steel Custom Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I play on an ESP LTD M10 (Ordered it from here, too) and I needed to change the strings, the stock B string had a kink in it at the 6th fret that made it cut out, and I was indecided between GHS Boomers 9 1/2s and these. So I got both, and strung the GHS Low E string first, and instantly noticed it wasn't gonna work, it was gonna cut out and I'd have to restring it. So then I string these on it and I was instantly amazed. The only reason I knocked 1/2 a point off of the overall is that the High-E was way too thin for my liking, and I used the GHS Boomer's 9 1/2 E. The tone these strings give out is amazing, they're staying in tune fairly well for new strings that haven't been broken in for more than 5 mins, and my guitar's sound has NEVER been better.

Comments about Dean Markley 2554 Blue Steel Custom Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I was first introduced to these strings from the guitarist Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains). I went and picked up some for my acoustic and electric and they are the best sounding strings I've laid hands on. They're very crisp but heavy. Great strings for all around music. And just to test them, I tuned it about 6 full steps up before the string broke. Extremely durable.

Comments about Dean Markley 2554 Blue Steel Custom Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are just the ticket for my Les Paul. I have used Ernie Ball exclusively for the longest of times, but these strings are perfect for my needs. They are a little bit stiffer than the slinky, but that allowed me to use a lower action without the fret buzz. Don't get me wrong...I still love my Ernie Balls and use them on my Ibanez, but the Blue Steel is perfect if you are searching for a durable string that sounds great. They also last quite a while and lend themselves to bending very well.

These are good strings, I'm not going to say what strings I switched from to these because they are a different guage and I use them on my practice guitar. The Blue Steel's brought out some great tone out of a not so good bridge pickup, despite being light on the bottom. I used an overdrive with my old strings but not with these. They stay in perfect tune with a Floyd Rose once you dial it all in.

I have been buying these strings from MF for six years now. But no more. These took over a week to get to me. I thought I ordered in time for a weekend thing I had. it would take up to ten day. MF said that because they were less than 1 lb. MF uses UPSMI for a round about delivery path. Needless to say I am disappointed in MF and their delivery choices.

BTW, I do like these strings.

However, the new "green" packaging is terrible! From string damage(bends & kinks) to string identification, it is a very poor package. Dissappointed in DM....thought they were a classy company. Time for a change.
