Overall I love these strings, they suite my style greatly and they sound so good through my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and Fender Blues Junior!
These strings are number 1 in my arsenal of strings because to me, i enjoy the brightness that these strings offer! they get me the nice twangy, chimey crystal clear bright tone and sound and each note i hit with these strings really pronounces so greatly! i only set my hot rod deville's drive barely on 2 and i get a nice rich gritty sound and when i strum at the tip of the neck like Kieth Richards does, i get that nice bell like chime perfectly. One thing to note with these is, in order to keep that nice rich flavor to them, you gotta use string cleaning oil such as fastfret or dunlop string cleaner, you cant let the grease from your fingers sit on these after gigs or long times of play because it will dead end the tone greatly. but all in all these strings are great, they are my number 1 brand strings i like to use!
One thing to note is you have to keep up on making sure you clean these strings right after you play because if grease from your fingers is left on them it will greatly dead end the tone.
Not a bad value just wish they were less but they are worth it though.

So over the years I've never been excited to try out guitar strings yet these excited me , the name the photo everything marketing was perfect. But when you try them after a few days they break. Not from re-tuning , no from actually strumming the strings , doesn't matter how hard you pick chances are you'll never break a string going through endless tone chasing to find the right gauge from 8-38 to insanely thick stuff as I'm a metal / shred guy.

so I've bought two packs , assumed maybe it was an old pack or whatever as the first time I ever bought a 12-52 not even slinky set by Ernie Ball it happened to me on the high E (used super slinky for years). But this wasn't the case. I've had friends all over the world say that they will never buy these strings. If you're a guitar tech who has successfully floated a floyd rose and adjusted it to a tuning you must be the luckiest guitar tech in the world .. seriously go out and buy a lottary ticket! Also steel strings wear down frets so don't bother with these if a re-fretting is out of your budget.

I liked the black packs of Dean Markley that aren't a buck more than the competition but these where a joke. They consistantly break after a week or so at least one string.. seriously it's not the guitar. A new set of pickups won't solve this problem 14 year olds and I'm sure the quality went down because I know a guy who's in his late 30s early 40s who used to love these back in the day. All the other major brands will last a month minimum on even a beginner guitar but stay away from these.

I'd like to be the first to conclude that these strings blow.. They cheaped out with the single "air tight" package and wound all the string together in a circular knot that causes random bends and deformations.

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been using Blue Steels on both electric and acoustic guitars for many years now, switched from D'Addario because of string life issues. I have to say, for the money, these things have it all. I've used Elixer Nanoweb strings now and again and the difference is enough that I'll always go back to Markley.... Better sound, equivalent string life and excellent tone for what I do - been playing for over 40 years doing blues mostly through Fender tube amps (a Blues, Jr. right now) and they just flat do it for me on my Epiphone ES 339.

I played Blue Steel 15 years ago and decided to try them again because they were very durable and had really clean tone. You can imagine my suprise when I openned the box and saw 2nd string without nickel coating on some places - looked like the frets mark on old string. SO DEAN MARKLEY, BEFORE YOU STEP INTO CRYO CHAMBER, LEARN HOW TO NICKEL PLATE!

I use this brand of strings for guitar and bass. Dean Markley makes the best strings period! I have tried almost every brand in the last 20 years, and have used these for 8 of those. Great price, killer tone, and there longevity is superior.

I've used blue steels for well over a decade. I've recently tried D'Addarios and they can't compare. The blue steels are the toughest and best sounding strings for their price. They strobe accurately, stay in tune, sound great clean or distorted, and last for a long time. I have a bad habit of not changing strings often enough, but the blue steels allow me to do this.
