Overall I love these strings, they suite my style greatly and they sound so good through my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and Fender Blues Junior!
These strings are number 1 in my arsenal of strings because to me, i enjoy the brightness that these strings offer! they get me the nice twangy, chimey crystal clear bright tone and sound and each note i hit with these strings really pronounces so greatly! i only set my hot rod deville's drive barely on 2 and i get a nice rich gritty sound and when i strum at the tip of the neck like Kieth Richards does, i get that nice bell like chime perfectly. One thing to note with these is, in order to keep that nice rich flavor to them, you gotta use string cleaning oil such as fastfret or dunlop string cleaner, you cant let the grease from your fingers sit on these after gigs or long times of play because it will dead end the tone greatly. but all in all these strings are great, they are my number 1 brand strings i like to use!
One thing to note is you have to keep up on making sure you clean these strings right after you play because if grease from your fingers is left on them it will greatly dead end the tone.
Not a bad value just wish they were less but they are worth it though.

I picked up a set of these (.009 - .046) as part of a deal-sweetener and though I'd give them a go. They sound great, but I have busted three strings in the last three weeks (high-E, B and D) - that's as many as I normally break in a year - and each time it's been while playing live. I don't go in for Pete Townsend windmilling or anything like that so I'm not super-impressed. Liquid nitrogen may help the molecular alignment in the steel a bit but I'm wondering if it doesn't make things a bit more brittle as well - perhaps put a few microfractures in the structure. As I said, perhaps I got a bad set, but I don't think I'll be getting them again, especially thi site's current deal on the D'Addarios.

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

I've used blue steels for well over a decade. I've recently tried D'Addarios and they can't compare. The blue steels are the toughest and best sounding strings for their price. They strobe accurately, stay in tune, sound great clean or distorted, and last for a long time. I have a bad habit of not changing strings often enough, but the blue steels allow me to do this.

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

Guitar strings are like picks. They all serve the same purpose, but you need to take time to find the one that best suites you and your style of playing. I have used just about every brand of strings out there while working for my local music store. These Blue Steels have a well balanced tone with a bright cutting top end. For me thats perfect. I play Hard rock with a lot of leads and pinch harmonics so i need a string that can have that "edge" on the top end without comprimising the bottom end. These do just that. They also have a longer life than any GHS, Ernie Ball, or D'Addario i have ever used. They dont last as long as Elixir, but you lose that "life" in your tone with Elixirs. So if you play any harder style from aggressive blues to metal, to lead heavy country, these will work very well. If you need a mellow smooth sounding jazz string, look elswhere. So experiment!!! Try as many strings as you can. These are great for me, but maybe not everybody. These strings are all I use on my Les Pauls. Try them!

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been using Blue Steels on both electric and acoustic guitars for many years now, switched from D'Addario because of string life issues. I have to say, for the money, these things have it all. I've used Elixer Nanoweb strings now and again and the difference is enough that I'll always go back to Markley.... Better sound, equivalent string life and excellent tone for what I do - been playing for over 40 years doing blues mostly through Fender tube amps (a Blues, Jr. right now) and they just flat do it for me on my Epiphone ES 339.

I played Blue Steel 15 years ago and decided to try them again because they were very durable and had really clean tone. You can imagine my suprise when I openned the box and saw 2nd string without nickel coating on some places - looked like the frets mark on old string. SO DEAN MARKLEY, BEFORE YOU STEP INTO CRYO CHAMBER, LEARN HOW TO NICKEL PLATE!

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

Not sure I like these strings. They seem incredibly difficult to keep in tune, needed substancial initial stretching, threw my intonation off quite a bit, and the low E sounds flat, even worse @ the 12th fret. Not convinced that they are what they were advertised to be. I don't think I will buy them again.

Comments about Dean Markley 2556 Blue Steel Gauge Electric Guitar Strings:

Probably, I've tried most of the guitar strings available on the market, and I keep coming back to these. They exhibit a clear bell-like chime that I think improves the sound of any guitar strung with them. I play two different Strats and a Tele, and all of them sound great with these babies! Wipe them down after playing, and they'll stand up to months of daily use. Best of all, they're no more expensive than any other premium guitar strings. They have my highest endorsement! Try them, you'll like them.

I'd like to be the first to conclude that these strings blow.. They cheaped out with the single "air tight" package and wound all the string together in a circular knot that causes random bends and deformations.
