Black Label Society guitarist and "Evil Twin" Nick Catanese has recently joined the ranks of Dean Markley Strings' Endorsing Artists. Catanese shares Black Label Society's stage with the guitarist Zakk Wylde. The guitarist and Markley have developed a strong working relationship, resulting in the collaborative development of a package and guitar string set utilizing Catanese's specific gauges (.010 .013 .017 .036 .052 .060). I bought a set of these strings, along with the ZW dunlop 10-60's. They sound great and have a really comfortable feel to them. They have a great balance to them, nice crunchy lows and crisp, tight highs. The bigger gauge strings do make your tone that much better, even with a ton of gain, they have great clarity to them, something I can't get with small gauge strings. Overall, both brands sound great, the Deans are just a little brighter then the Dunlops. For drop tunings there a must , they keep there tension and the palm muting chunk sounds killer.

Let me first say that I have been playing Dean Markley strings for a long time and they make great strings. The only thing is if you have a standard nut, you may need to make a few modifications because the bottom end is very heavy and the strings don't settle into the grooves. If you have a locking nut this won't be a problem. These strings are great if you play in drop, or low tunings as they have great spring back, but are very tight in standard tuning, tight enough that you will probably need to adjust your truss rod. Overall these are great strings!

i got these about 3 weeks ago...theyre not all that greaton the plus side, they hold up in drop tunings, and harmonics on them sound really goodon the downside, whenever i try to play power chords, they just sound bad. individual notes sound fine, but not chords, and i love using power chordspersonally, i wouldnt recommend them

I use nothing but Dean Markley strings. The tone is consistent from one set to the next. They play awesome in drop D and can handle just about any thing in between. And you can't beat the price either.
